Spacesweepers director Jo Sung Hee has a brand new Netflix project lined up with the K-drama Buy King. Ju Ji Hoon has been confirmed as the lead of the series, and is joined by Lee Jun Ho. The drama will center on the affluent families of South Korea as they fight over the succession of multi-billion-dollar conglomerates. Here’s everything we know about Buy King on Netflix.
Buy King (formerly named Viking) is an upcoming South Korean Netflix Original directed by Jo Sung Hee, who previously directed Netflix’s and South Korea’s first sci-fi blockbuster, Space Sweepers. The series will be written by screenwriter Lee Shin Ho, who previously wrote My Mighty Princess and The Chaser.

What is the plot of Buy King?

“Centered on the hidden family wars of a Korean chaebols, a captivating story that delves into the complex family dynamics of South Korea’s wealthiest, their succession battles, and the fierce struggles among family members to claim the throne of a multi-billion-dollar family business.”
Who are the cast members of Buy King?
Ju Ji Hoon is the first cast member confirmed for Buy King. The actor has reportedly turned down a role in the remake of Inside Men to star in the Netflix series. Ju Ji Hoon will play Han Tae Jun, “A man who shows no mercy in the face of success and power.”
Ju Ji Hoon is no stranger to Netflix, having starred as Crown Prince Lee in both seasons of Kingdom, Baek Gang Hyeok in The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, and Yun Hui Jae in Hyena.

Lee Jun Ho was recently approached to take a leading role in Buy King and, after reviewing the script, reportedly accepted the role of Han Ji Yeol. The actor has starred in a handful of Netflix dramas such as Cashero, Typhoon Family, and King the Land. He was also previously part of the K-pop group 2PM, serving as its lead vocalist and dancer.
The character Han Ji Yeol has the following description:
“A third-generation chaebol heir who is a corporate risk analysis expert and a cold-blooded strategist. He will be in a rivalry with his uncle, Han Tae-jun, who plays the villain.”

What is the production status of Buy King?
Currently in pre-production, filming on Buy King is scheduled to begin in April 2026 and wrap by October 2026.
What is the episode count?
Buy King will reportedly have 10 episodes.
Runtimes have yet to be disclosed.
When will Buy King be released on Netflix?
With the filming schedule confirmed, it’s now more than likely that Buy King will be released on Netflix in the second-half of 2027.
