Extraction Taigo Netflix Spin Off Film Preview

Not only is Netflix continuing to expand its Extraction franchise with a third installment and a television spin-off, but a Korean spin-off titled Extraction: Taigo is reportedly in development. The film will reportedly star Squid Game’s Lee Jin Wook, Train to Busan’s Ma Dong Seok, and Blackpink’s Lisa. Filming is expected to get underway in October 2025.

Extraction has been one of Netflix’s major success stories and the Russo Brothers’ most successful project since Avengers: Endgame. Chris Hemsworth continues to prove to be one of Hollywood’s most popular leading men, and Sam Hargrave has shone as an excellent action movie director, which has ultimately led Extraction and Extraction 2 to attract a huge audience, with hundreds of millions of views for each movie.

Naturally, such a success has led Netflix to expand the Extraction franchise even further, with a television series in development and Chris Hemsworth returning to reprise his role in the third installment. However, the film franchise will reportedly go international with a Korean spin-off in development at Netflix.

As reported by Naver, the Korean spin-off titled Extraction: Taigo (Tigo is a direct translation we’ve also seen) will be directed by Lee Sang Yong, director of The Outlaws 2, and written by Cha Woo Jin. Big Punch Pictures, B&C, and Nova Film are the production companies producing the feature. How the film ties into the Extraction universe has yet to be revealed.

Netflix did not respond to a request for comment.

What is the plot of Extraction Taigo?

Plot details are limited, but Korean outlet Naver has reported the following:

“Ma Dong-seok appears as a mercenary who embarks on a dangerous mission to rescue a kidnapped colleague.”

Who are the cast members of Extraction: Taigo?

The three names reportedly tied to the project are Ma Dong SeokLee Jin Wook, and Lisa.

Ma Dong Seok has only starred in one Netflix project, the 2024 film Badland Hunters. However, he is arguably most well known for starring in the beloved zombie-horror film Train to Busan. MCU fans will remember him for his role as Gilgamesh in The Eternals. He has also starred in projects such as The Roundup and The Gangster, the Cop, the Devil.

Lee Jin Wook has starred in several popular Netflix shows, including Squid Game, Sweet Home, Beyond the Bar, and Bulgasal: Immortal Souls. He has also had a guest role in the Netflix K-drama Doona.

Lisa is best known for her career in the music industry, particularly as an idol in the South Korean girl group Blackpink. She has also seen success in her solo career with her debut studio album, Alter Ego, which entered the US Billboard 200 in the top 10. Her acting career has been limited, with her debut in the third season of HBO’s English-language drama series The White Lotus.

Her role has not yet been revealed, and Netflix has not made an official announcement. But adding Lisa to the film’s cast is certainly one way to get eyes on the project, given the millions of fans she and Blackpink have.
