Netflix is officially doubling down on hands-on science this summer. YouTube superstar and former NASA engineer Mark Rober is bringing yet another series to the streaming platform: Camp CrunchLabs.
The new addition marks a continued expansion of the lucrative partnership between Netflix and Rober, whose blend of high-energy engineering, kid-friendly education, and massive viral stunts has proven to be a massive hit for the platform’s family-friendly catalog. The collaboration was first unveiled in August 2025.
Expected to follow the format of his previous Netflix releases, Camp CrunchLabs will likely feature repackaged and curated episodes sourced directly from his wildly popular YouTube channel.
The new series has been rated TV-PG, and Netflix has provided the following official synopsis with the first batch set to debut on Netflix tomorrow (June 8th):
“Have a blast this summer at Camp CrunchLabs, where Mark Rober’s serving up hands-on science experiments with special guests and at-home Super Challenges!”
Mark Rober’s Growing Netflix Empire
Camp CrunchLabs is just the latest piece of a much larger puzzle for Rober on Netflix. Over the last year, the streamer has rapidly built out a dedicated Mark Rober library under the Kids, Science, Nature genre.
His flagship compilation series, Mark Rober’s CrunchLabs, currently boasts four seasons on the platform. The rollout has been incredibly fast-paced: Season 1 premiered on November 19, 2025, followed by Season 2 on January 1, 2026, Season 3 on March 16, 2026, and the most recent Season 4 drop, which just landed on May 26, 2026.
The numbers for the series are pretty good, albeit because of its release cadence, we don’t have recent concrete numbers. We do know it’s featured in the global top 10s for a couple of weeks, and from the Engagement Report we do have, season 1 picked up 25.1M hours watched, equating to 11.9M in around a month of availability.
Based on the FlixPatrol data, the show performs moderately well in the overall TV charts but is an absolute powerhouse in the Kids category globally.

In addition to his YouTube compilations and a high-profile collaboration with Sesame Street, Rober is also gearing up for a brand new, original reality series on Netflix titled SCHOOLED!. Tied to his CrunchLabs Academy, SCHOOLED! represents a more traditional unscripted television approach compared to his compilation series. No release date for that, although casting opened up in March, so we can probably expect news later this year.
Bridging the YouTube-to-Streaming Gap
Rober’s expanding footprint on Netflix highlights a major ongoing strategy for the streamer: capturing the elusive tween and teen demographic by bridging the gap between traditional television and creator-led internet content.
Netflix has recently built out an expansive slate of tween and teen-friendly titles, blending heartfelt coming-of-age stories with breakout global favorites and internet personalities. Camp CrunchLabs will sit comfortably alongside recent reality and creator-driven hits like Salish & Jordan Matter.
