The 6-part Spanish limited series Superstar is coming to Netflix in July 2025, starring Ingrid García Jonsson as Tamara and her transformation into her persona, Yurena.
Superstar is an upcoming Spanish Netflix Original limited series created, co-written, and co-directed by Nacho Vigalondo. Also directing the series is Claudia Costafreda.
Nacho Vigalondo had the following to say about the series:
“One of the greatest fortunes I’ve had in my career has been the creative complicity with Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo, and this series is the culmination of that equation, that incredible talents such as Claudia Costafreda, Maria Bastarós and Paco Bezerra have projected to the stars. In Superestar, we wanted to understand, humanize and respect a set of characters who are usually mistreated, and in the process we created a dump of fantasy and magic that is unlike anything we have ever seen.”
The series is produced by Yuma Content, with Javier Calvo and Javier Ambrossi as producers.

When is Superstar coming to Netflix?
Thanks to the release of the official trailer, it has been confirmed that Superstar will be available worldwide on July 18, 2025.
What is the plot of Superstar?
A logline has been provided for Superstar:
“At the turn of the century, a comet crossed the Spanish sky, shattering the laws of fame and success and dissolving the line between the popular and the underground. For a few years, the front pages and prime time were taken over by celebrities from another dimension. Creatures who, until then, seemed condemned to ridicule and contempt, who caught our attention without adapting to any kind of normality. A magical story with room for esoteric conspiracies, eternal nights, quantum bricks, multicolored supervillains and an improbability made star: Tamara.”
Who are the cast members of Superstar?
Ingrid García Jonsson plays Yurena. The Spanish actress has been seen on Netflix in The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die as Brand. She is most well-known for her roles in the Spanish films Beautiful Youth and Sweet Home.

Natalia de Molina plays Loly Álvarez. The actress was previously seen on Netflix in the thriller series Iron Reign as Rocío Manchado. She has starred in films such as Food and Shelter, Adiós, and Living Is Easy with Eyes Closed.
