It’s official. After weeks of holding strong on the global charts, the animated sensation Swapped has achieved what very few films can: it has officially broken into Netflix’s All-Time Top 10 Most Popular English-Language Films list. The movie now sits at 139.8M views based on its 237.7M hours watched.
The news of the movie hitting the all-time top 10 list was actually teased last week by Ted Sarandos on an earnings call for Netflix, citing it as one of the biggest movies of the year so far. To claim its new spot among Netflix’s biggest heavy-hitters, Swapped has successfully ousted the Russo Brothers’ big-budget action blockbuster, The Gray Man, which previously held the #10 spot with 139.3 million views.
Not only does this secure its spot in the overall Top 10, but this staggering viewership tally officially crowns Swapped as Netflix’s second best-performing animated movie ever behind KPop Demon Hunters, which took the crown of being the most-watched Netflix movie ever late last year.
A massive driving force behind this historic run has been the film’s stellar reviews. Critics and audiences alike have universally praised the feature, citing its stunning visuals and incredible emotional resonance. That glowing word-of-mouth has translated into serious staying power, preventing the kind of week-two drop-off we often see and keeping the momentum rolling ever since its massive opening weekend.
A deeper dive into the numbers using our Netflix Top 10 Title Search tool paints a clearer picture of its phenomenal longevity. Swapped spent a highly impressive 10 consecutive weeks in Netflix’s official global top 10 lists. During those 10 weeks alone, the title amassed a staggering 226.9 million viewing hours and 133.5 million completed views (CVE).
It reached its peak global rank at #1 on May 5th, and posted its highest weekly viewership—a whopping 38.7 million views—during its second week on the platform (May 4 – May 10). Furthermore, it has demonstrated incredible daily endurance, registering 76 days on the Global Daily Top 10s chart.
What makes this achievement even more impressive is that Swapped isn’t done racking up numbers yet. The movie still has around 10 days to go until it hits its all-important 91-day premiere cutoff on July 31st. That means the film has plenty of runway left to climb even higher up the all-time ranks before its final viewership tally is permanently cemented.

To celebrate the historic milestone, we reached out to the film’s director, Nathan Greno, who sat down for a comprehensive interview with us just before the movie dropped. Reacting to the news of the film entering the all-time top 10, Greno provided What’s on Netflix with this exclusive statement:

This is an undeniable win for the streamer’s partnership with Skydance Animation. Skydance Animation is gearing up to release the highly anticipated sci-fi adventure Ray Gunn later this year, with at least three more exciting projects expected to land on Netflix in 2027 and beyond, with those yet to be officially unveiled. Netflix will also be hoping that lightning can strike three times in two years with their upcoming Steps movie coming up in November.
