As the nights draw in, the rain becomes more frequent, and temperatures drop, Netflix offers plenty of warm, feel-good series to escape into during the fall season.
From Netflix Original offerings to a few licensed series, the Netflix library is looking healthy going into the fall season. In this post, we’re sharing 10 warm and feel-good shows to cozy up to. This list features a mix of short and sweet dramas, long-running series, and even a documentary. Hopefully, there’s a series for everyone.
Derry Girls
Amidst the political conflict of Northern Ireland in the 1990s, five spirited students contend with the universal challenges of being a teenager.
Created by Lisa McGee, Derry Girls is a coming-of-age comedy series set in Derry, Northern Ireland in the 1990s during the final years of the Troubles (a long-running conflict in Northern Ireland). It follows five teenagers attending Our Lady Immaculate College. The series stars Bridgerton alum Nicola Coughlan, as well as Saoirse-Monica Jackson, Louisa Harland, and Jamie-Lee O’Donnell.
Derry Girls is loosely inspired by McGee’s own experiences spending her formative years in an Irish Catholic family in Derry.
Heartstopper
Teens Charlie and Nick discover their unlikely friendship might be something more as they navigate school and young love in this coming-of-age series.
First airing in 2022, Heartstopper is based on the best-selling graphic novels by British author Alice Oseman. The series follows unlikely teenage duo Nick (Kit Connor) and Charlie (Joe Locke) as they navigate their formative years in school and the trials and tribulations that come with it — including young love, as Nick and Charlie discover whether their friendship is anything more.
Rather than renew the series for a fourth season, Netflix will instead end the series with a feature-length movie in 2026. The emotional final instalment adapts Volume 6 of Oseman’s best-selling series. It wrapped filming in July 2025 after just 35 days of filming.
Atypical

When a teen on the autism spectrum decides to get a girlfriend, his bid for more independence puts his whole family on a path of self-discovery.
We’re going back a few years with Atypical. The series premiered in 2017 and lasted four excellent seasons. It follows autistic 18-year-old Sam (Keir Gilchrist), who tries to take on some independence amid growing pains and start dating girls. It’s a coming-of-age series with a lovely blend of witty and heartfelt.
Atypical received largely positive reviews at Netflix, seeing it span 38 episodes across 4 seasons.
Anne With an E
A plucky orphan whose passions run deep finds an unlikely home with a spinster and her soft-spoken bachelor brother. Based on Anne of Green Gables.
Beautiful and heartfelt, Anne With an E is set in the late 19th century, where young and sweet orphan Anne Shirley is adopted by an elderly brother-sister duo, Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert. It’s full of love, kindness, optimism, and merriment.
The series is based on the beloved classic Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery. Sadly it was cancelled after 3 seasons, otherwise we’d feature it higher on this list. Even so, it’s well worth checking out if you want a gorgeously crafted, heartwarming series.
Grace and Frankie
They're not friends, but when their husbands leave them for each other, proper Grace and eccentric Frankie begin to bond in this Emmy-nominated series.
First airing back in 2015, Grace and Frankie lasted for 7 seasons, ultimately wrapping up in 2022. We follow Grace (Jane Fonda) and Frankie (Lily Tomlin) — the duo previously known for 1980s classic 9 to 5 — after they learn that their husbands have fallen in love and plan to get married. As their lives crumble, they find themselves intrinsically brought together. What follows is dozens of witty and quirky stories.
Bringing Fonda and Tomlin back together in roles like these was always going to be a winner, right?
Virgin River

Searching for a fresh start, a nurse practitioner moves from LA to a remote northern California town and is surprised by what -- and who -- she finds.
One of Netflix’s most popular feel-good shows, Virgin River is here for the long run. It will return for a 7th season, with season 8 already planned. What’s more, there’s even a spinoff in the works.
Virgin River follows Melinda Munroe, who moves from the bustling Los Angeles to a remote Northern Californian town to leave painful memories behind and become a midwife and nurse practitioner. But as she settles in and sinks deeper into her new surroundings, it’s not quite the new life she expected.
Our Planet
Life's extraordinary journey to conquer, adapt and survive on Earth across billions of years comes alive in this groundbreaking nature docuseries.
Okay, so we’re going a little left field with this choice in a bid to cover all bases. There’s plenty of dramas on this list. And now we’re adding in Our Planet, a gorgeous documentary that explores our planet’s natural beauty through breathtaking shots and innovative cinematography. Spanning 12 episodes across two seasons, Our Planet takes viewers on a spectacular tour of our jungles, oceans, grasslands, and beyond.
It’s all narrated by the legendary David Attenborough. If dramas and sitcoms aren’t your thing, Our Planet is more than feel good enough for you to get in on the fun.
The Good Place
Due to an error, self-absorbed Eleanor Shellstrop arrives at the Good Place after her death. Determined to stay, she tries to become a better person.
A sitcom with a fantastical twist, The Good Place begins with everyone dead, in some version of Heaven. Our protagonist, Eleanor (Kristen Bell), lived a pretty morally corrupt life as a salesman, yet still finds herself in a Heaven-esque afterlife. Realising that she only got there as a result of mistaken identity, she attempts to conceal her dodgy past life to remain there.
The Good Place began in 2016, running for four terrific seasons. The ratings speak for themselves, with the series currently holding an impressive 97% on Rotten Tomatoes. You’ll need to be quick, though (unless you’re outside the United States), given that the series is leaving Netflix for good in late September.
Sweet Magnolias
Lifelong friends Maddie, Helen and Dana Sue lift each other up as they juggle relationships, family and careers in the small, Southern town of Serenity.
Sweet Magnolias is based on novels by Sherryl Woods. Set in the southern town of Serenity, it follows lifelong friends Maddie, Dana Sue, and Helen. This is the ultimate feel-good series. It’s a series about lifelong friendships, companionships, and support.
The series aired its fourth season in February 2025, and it will officially return for a fifth season in 2026.
Gilmore Girls
Is it really a feel-good list without Gilmore Girls? Netflix first added Gilmore Girls to its US catalog back in 2014 after striking a deal with Warner Bros. Television. The streamer even revived the series in 2016 with Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. The beloved drama has been a staple series on Netflix in the US ever since.
Gilmore Girls needs no introduction. Over 7 seasons, the drama follows the bond between mother-daughter duo Lorelai (Lauren Graham) and Rory (Alexis Bledel) in the small, tight-knit, and quirky American town of Stars Hollow.
