The Wretched

Coming to Netflix: 2 October

Who will win in a fight? An angsty teen going through his parents’ divorce or a 1000-year-old witch? That question is answered in The Pierce Brothers’ supernatural horror!

Ben Shaw, a rebellious teenager coming to terms with his parents getting a divorce, visits his dad in a sleepy coastal town where he becomes convinced that his neighbor, Abby, is possessed by a thousand-year-old witch.

Christmas Bloody Christmas

Coming to Netflix: 9 October

A Christmas movie, you say!? What better way to enjoy the best of both worlds of Halloween and Christmas on a cold Fall evening than by sitting on the couch with a blanket, a hot drink, and watching a violent, robotic, and murderous Santa Claus?

Tori’s Christmas Eve plans to go out and get drunk are ruined when a robotic Santa Claus in a toy store malfunctions and goes on a murderous killing spree across her small town.

8

Prevenge

Coming to Netflix: 9 October

There’s a case to be made that the British are some of the very best filmmakers for comedy horrors, and Alice Lowe’s violent Prevenge is an extremely fun must-watch for Horror fans this Halloween.

Ruth, seven months pregnant, is still reeling from the death of her husband after he died in a climbing accident. Convinced that her unborn child is telling her to commit murderous acts, she is compelled to follow its orders and begins to track down and murder those responsible for her husband’s death.

7

Dracula (1979)

Coming to Netflix: 1 October

Is it really Halloween without vampires? And is it really Halloween without watching a film of the most iconic vampire of all, Dracula? While the 1979 Dracula is often overshadowed by the many adaptations over the century, Frank Langella still delivers a phenomenal performance as the Count, not to mention the film is also scored by the legendary John Williams.

In 1913, England, the streets of Whitby, Yorkshire, are haunted by Count Dracula, who is in search of a new bride.

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer

Coming to Netflix: 1 October

Teen slashers dominated the ’90s and early 2000s, and one of the most iconic franchises of the bunch was the I Know What You Did Last Summer films. While the sequel isn’t as great as the original, it’s still a fantastic addition to Netflix and a real throwback to 90s horror.

A year after surviving the murderous Fisherman, Julie and Ray are haunted by the events of last summer, but trying to move on with their lives. When they are given free tickets to the Bahamas, what was meant to be the perfect opportunity to relax turns to horror as the Fisherman returns and goes on a bloody, murderous rampage across the island resort.

5

The Sentinel

Coming to Netflix: 1 October

Before zombies and slashers dominated the horror genre in the 1980s, many films that terrified audiences in the 1970s were grounded in supernatural and religious horror. Michael Winner’s The Sentinel was poorly received by critics and bombed at the box office when it was first released in 1977, but like many underappreciated horrors, it has since gone on to become a cult classic.

What was meant to be a cosy new home for New York fashion model Alison soon turns into a nightmare thanks to her eccentric neighbors and the bizarre disturbances happening in the building. Determined to uncover the truth, she attempts to discover the building’s sinister secret.

4

The Strangers

Coming to Netflix: 1 October

With the recent release of the fourth Strangers film in theaters, it’s unsurprising that Netflix has licensed the 2008 horror film in time for the Halloween season. Despite being panned by critics, earning $82.4 million at the box office against a $9 million budget, and becoming a cult classic among horror fans, it is a big success in our eyes. Certainly a welcome addition to the Netflix library.

When a couple decides to stay at an isolated vacation home, what was meant to be a peaceful time together turns into a nightmare when three masked assailants invade their home, forcing them into a violent night of survival.

3

The Elixer

Coming to Netflix: 23 October

Over the past decade, some of the best new zombie films have come from Asia. This year, we’ve already seen Ziam from Thailand, and now it’s Indonesia’s turn to take center stage with The Elixir.

A renowned but dysfunctional family runs a medicinal business in an Indonesian town, but when the owner attempts to innovate and make a brand new potion, he inadvertently triggers a devastating zombie outbreak.

2

Red Dragon

Coming to Netflix: 1 October

Hannibal ‘The Cannibal’ Lecter is one of the most iconic movie villains in history, and it’s always a joy to see Anthony Hopkins slip back into the role. Ed Norton always gives a great performance as FBI Agent Will Graham, and especially Ralph Fiennes as the utterly unhinged Francis Dolarhyde.

Will Graham, a retired FBI agent, is called back into action after a deranged serial killer known as ‘The Tooth Fairy’ terrorises the streets of Baltimore. But in order to capture the serial killer, Graham enlists the help of Hannibal Lecter, whom he barely escaped being a victim of, and ultimately led to Lecter’s imprisonment.

1

I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025)

Coming to Netflix: 16 October

In an era of remakes, reboots, and sequels, no franchise is safe! However, it was incredibly fun to watch as Freddie Prinze Jr., Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Brandy Norwood returned to reprise their roles as Ray Bronson, Julie James, and Karla Wilson.

History repeats itself when a group of high school friends is involved in a tragic car accident, but chooses to make a pact and keep it secret. One year later, they are forced to confront the truth when someone discovers their secret and is determined to get revenge. When friends begin to die, they soon discover this happened before in 1997, and they turn to the Southport Massacre of 1997 for help.
