In case you missed it, several international regions, some for the first time, picked up all seven seasons of the hit show Mad Men in August 2024. However, its time on Netflix is soon coming to an end after only a single year.
Winner of 16 Emmys and five Golden Globes, Mad Men is the stylish Matthew Weiner series set during the 1960s and 70s detailing the harsh environment of Sterling Cooper, an elite advertising agency operating on Madison Avenue in central Manhattan. Don Draper, played by Jon Hamm, is the focus throughout much of the series.
The re-addition to Netflix did come with the caveat that one of the episodes of Season 3 was unavailable to Netflix subscribers (as noted in the removal notice below), although that’s not actually the case. The episode in question is “Old Kentucky Home,” which is now available to play, albeit it begins with a note about the episode’s content. The note reads:
“This episode contains disturbing images related to race in America. One of the characters is shown in blackface as part of an episode that shows how commonplace racism was in America in 1963.
In its resiliance on historical authenticity, the series producers are committed to exposing the injustice and inequities within our society that contineu to this day so we can examine even the most painful parts of our history in order to reflect on who we are today and who we want to become. We are therefore presenting the original episode in its entirety.”
Back on the matter at hand, Mad Men is now scheduled to leave Netflix in the majority of international regions on August 1st, 2026, with a removal notice confirming
The regions the removal applies to include (via Unogs):
- Australia
- Belgium
- Canada
- France
- Germany
- Greece
- Iceland
- India
- Italy
- Lithuania
- The Netherlands
- Poland
- Portugal
- Singapore
- Spain
- Sweden
- Switzerland
- Ukraine
Removal date for Mad Men on Netflix internationally
The re-addition to Netflix in 2024 didn’t include the United States, which lost the show in full back in mid-2020. While Lionsgate Television has licensed a bunch of titles to Netflix in recent months in the US, Mad Men has sadly not been one of them. In the US, the series is currently exclusively streaming on AMC+, the network that originally aired the show between 2007 and 2015.
Netflix UK Will Keep Mad Men Until At Least January 2026
For Brits, you’ve had a lot less time to watch the series, given that it was only added on New Year’s Day 2025. So, while on the bright side, you’ll be keeping it beyond August 15th, our intel suggests that Netflix UK only picked up the show on a single-year license.
What does that mean? Unless a new deal can be struck, Netflix UK will lose all seasons of Mad Men on January 1st, 2026. Keep an eye on our leaving soon section for more details on all UK departures as and when we get them.
