More fantastic films are scheduled to leave the Netflix library by the end of July 2025. Some surprising departures are films from the Alfred Hitchcock collection, which only just landed on Netflix in June. Arguably, the best of the bunch scheduled to leave is Christopher Nolan’s incredible World War II drama, Dunkirk

Here, you can find our ongoing list of all the movies and series set to depart the streamer throughout August 2025. We’ve got you covered for all the remaining titles, leaving in June 2025 here.

As a quick note, we list titles for the actual day of removal. If you want to watch any movie leaving on, your last full day to watch will be July 31st.

Dawn of the Dead

Dawn Of The Dead 15 Great Movies Leaving Netflix Before The End Of July 2025

One of the most beloved and influential zombie movies in history, George A. Romero’s 1978 horror classic has inspired generations of aspiring film directors. Over 25 years later, Zack Snyder would make his directorial debut in what is arguably one of the best remakes in Hollywood history.

2004 was an iconic year for the zombie genre. Releasing just ten days apart in their respective countries, the UK had the hilarious Shaun of the Dead, and the USA had Dawn of the Dead. Both films breathed life back into the Zombie genre. What Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg did was nothing short of comedy genius with Shaun of the Dead. However, it was Snyder who brought the fear factor back to the genre. One of the best zombie films ever made, Snyder’s remake of Dawn of the Dead is now a modern classic.

Dunkirk

Rightfully considered to be one of the best war films ever made, Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk is a phenomenal piece of cinema. From the land, sea, and air, three distinct stories tell the tale of the British Army’s evacuation of Dunkirk, which, after being surrounded by the German Army, faced annihilation, if not for the actions of the British public who sent a flotilla of boats to rescue the men, and the incredible pilots of the RAF who defended the skies against the Luftwaffe.

Dunkirk was nominated for eight Academy Awards; it won the Oscars for Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, and Best Film Editing, and narrowly missed out on Best Director and Best Film to Guillermo del Toro’s The Shape of Water.

Alfred Hitchcock Collection

Alfred Hitchcock 15 Great Movies Leaving Netflix Before The End Of July 2025

As quickly as they have arrived on Netflix, a collection of Alfred Hitchcock movies is already scheduled to leave the Netflix library! Having only been available to stream on the Netflix library since the start of June, we’re shocked that the license to stream these films was only for a couple of months.

Here are the six Alfred Hitchcock movies currently scheduled to leave the Netflix library:

  1. The Birds (1963)
  2. Family Plot (1976)
  3. Frenzy (1972)
  4. The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956)
  5. Psycho (1960)
  6. Vertigo (1958)

There’s a chance these films could have their license renewed, considering they were only recently added. It would be disappointing to see these iconic classics leave the library so soon after they were added.

Happy Gilmore (1996)

Happy Gilmore 15 Great Movies Leaving Netflix Before The End Of July 2025  With the impending arrival of Happy Gilmore 2, it comes as no surprise that the 1996 comedy classic was recently re-added to the Netflix library on July 1, 2025. However, we’re shocked to discover that Happy Gilmore is already scheduled to leave the Netflix library, and what’s worse is that its scheduled leave date is only one week after the release of the sequel.

There’s a chance that in the run-up to the release of the sequel on July 25, Happy Gilmore will enter Netflix’s daily top 10. If the sequel does prove to be a success, we’re sure the streaming service will rush to renew the license of Happy Gilmore.

Hitchcock (2012)

Not only is the Alfred Hitchcock collection scheduled to leave, but the excellent biographical drama starring Anthony Hopkins as the polarizing director is also set to depart, having only recently arrived on Netflix at the start of June 2025.

The film is a fun insight into the larger-than-life director, who is played excellently by Anthony Hopkins, and is matched in performance by the equally wonderful Helen Mirren as Hitchcock’s wife, Alma Reville. Fans of Psycho should check it out, as the film is centered on the production of the film and the influence Alma had on its success. It also stars Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, the lead actress of Psycho, whose iconic shower murder scene has immortalized her.

Once again, we ask: Why was this only licensed for two months? Perhaps Netflix was testing the waters by adding the Alfred Hitchcock collection to see how subscribers would react to classical movies. If the films have performed well enough for Netflix, including the Hitchcock biopic, then perhaps the license will be renewed.

The Lego Movie (2014)

The influence of LEGO on the minds of generations of children is not to be understated. While there had been several straight-to-DVD films made by LEGO, mainly from the Bionicle franchise, it’s surprising that it took until 2014 for the franchise to receive its big-budget blockbuster feature film. A massive hit with audiences everywhere, The LEGO Movie has since spawned several other films, including The LEGO Batman Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie.

A fun adventure that the whole family can enjoy, the cast is excellent, the story is super entertaining, and it’s a crossover that utilizes other popular and beloved IP works in the LEGO world.

We’re suckers for a great crime-drama, and Derek Cianfrance’s The Place Beyond the Pines shouldn’t be overlooked by subscribers before it leaves the library. Starring Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper, both of whom gave excellent performances in their roles, in particular Cooper, who shone in his role as Avery.

The film centers on Avery, an ambitious police officer, who attempts to confront the corruption within his police department and must deal with his rebellious teenage son, AJ, and his best friend Jason, who Avery had a violent confrontation with Jason’s father years prior, and is still feeling the consequences of their altercation years later.

The cast also features Eva Mendes, Dane DeHaan, Rose Byrne, Mahershala Ali, Ben Mendelsohn, and the late Ray Liotta.

Uncle Buck (1989)

John Candy starred in several beloved and iconic comedy films of the 80s and early 90s, and arguably one of his best roles was that of Buck Russell in John Hughes’ Uncle Buck. One of the other standout stars is Macaulay Culkin as Buck’s nephew, Miles, who soon goes on to become one of the biggest child stars of the era, thanks to his role as Kevin McCallister in Home Alone.

The heartwarming comedy is centered on Buck Russell, the good-natured and carefree younger brother of Bob. Buck’s phobia of commitment is put to the test when a family crisis leaves him in charge of Bob’s children, Miles and Maizy, as well as the rebellious teenager Tia.
