Scaring audiences everywhere, The Conjuring Cinematic Universe has been one of the most entertaining and successful horror franchises ever. But of all the films within the shared universe, how many are currently available to stream on Netflix? You’ll be disappointed by the answer, but we know where you’ll be able to stream the films outside of Netflix. Let’s find out, are The Conjuring Universe movies on Netflix?

The Conjuring Cinematic Universe is the franchise and shared universe of supernatural horror films. Debuting in 2013 with The Conjuring, the franchise has spawned a total of seven films, with further sequels and spin-offs on the way. The Conjuring Cinematic Universe is one of the most profitable horror franchises ever, bringing in a ginormous $1.92 billion at the box office. What makes that even more remarkable, is all seven films were made on a combined budget of $144.5 Million.

The Conjuring (2013)

Director: James Wan
Cast: Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Lili Taylor, Ron Livingston, Shanley Caswell
Streaming on Netflix US: Yes
Other Regions Streaming: Australia, Brazil, India, Mexico, Netherlands + 13 More Regions

The one that kick-started the ever-growing franchise, The Conjuring, was a smash hit in 2013 when it released to theatres across the globe. Renowned horror director and writer James Wan, lead the way on a small budget of only $20 million, bringing in a huge $319.5 million at the box office.

Since the release of The Conjuring a sequel has been released (The Conjuring 2), a further sequel is scheduled to release in 2020 (The Conjuring 3), not to mention numerous spin-offs that have expanded upon the lore of the franchise.

The Plot

Demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren are contacted by the Perron family after coming into contact with a strange malevolent spirit that haunts their Rhode Island home. After discovering the tragic and deadly past of the house, the lives of the Perron family are in danger and the Warren’s must put their own lives on the line to stop the wicked spirit.

Annabelle (2014)

Director: John R. Leonetti
Cast: Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton, Alfre Woodard, Tony Amendola, Kerry O’Malley
Streaming on Netflix US: No
Other Regions Streaming: Australia, Germany, South Korea + 11 More Regions

The first of many spin-offs to come, Annabelle was the first prequel, and origin story of the Annabelle doll first seen in The Conjuring. Produced on an even smaller budget than it’s predecessor, Annabelle cost only $6.5 million to produce and made $257.1 million at the box office. James Wan acted as a producer for the film, and John R. Leonetti (Mortal Kombat: Annihilation) took the director’s seat instead.

Annabelle has sadly never been available on the US Netflix. At the time of writing, not a single streaming service carries the film. Annabelle is available to rent and for digital purchase in the usual online retailers. We suspect that the impending release of HBO Max will carry titles such as Annabelle.

The Plot

Years before the events of The Conjuring, a young doctor, John Form, finds the perfect gift, a rare porcelain doll for his wife, Mia, and their first unborn child. That night, a home invasion by their neighbors’ estranged cult worshipping daughter, Annabelle, and her boyfriend. Annabelle takes her own life in the Form’s nursery while holding their new doll. Soon after the attack, the Form family experience paranormal activity within their home. The spirit follows them to their rented apartment in Pasadena, and it soon becomes clear that a malevolent spirit is hellbent on taking Mia’s soul.

The Conjuring 2 (2016)

Director: James Wan
Cast: Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson, Madison Wolfe, Frances O’Connor, Bonnie Aarons
Streaming on Netflix US: No
Other Regions Streaming: Australia, Argentina, Brazil, Greece, Mexico

Despite the first film being available to stream on Netflix, its sequel, The Conjuring 2 is not. The film is unavailable to stream on any platform unless you want to rent or own The Conjuring 2. In the future, Netflix could pick up the film, but it’s more than likely HBO Max will have all the films upon launch.

As the core of the franchise, James Wan returned to direct the sequel to the smash-hit horror The Conjuring. Expanding upon the lore of the franchise, The Conjuring 2 was perfectly suited to establishing a wider range of villains, that have now received their own spin-off films. Another commercial success, in three films the franchise had made almost $900 million from a combined budget of around $62 million.

The Plot

Six years after the events of the Perron farmhouse, the Warrens travel to the London borough of Enfield, to investigate another family being haunted by a demonic spirit. But what lurks in the home is far more dangerous than the Warren’s could have ever imagined.

Annabelle: Creation (2017)

Director: David F. Sandberg
Cast: Stephanie Sigman, Talitha Bateman, Lulu Wilson, Anthony Lapaglia, Miranda Otto
Streaming on Netflix US: No
Other Regions Streaming: Canada, Germany, Netherlands, India + 4 More Regions

Continuing the origin story of the frightening porcelain doll, the events of the film took place twelve years before the events Annebelle. David F. Sandberg (Shazam) directed the fourth title in the franchise, and was another commercial hit, once again making over $300 million from a small budget. Considering Annabelle: Creation is the fourth film of the franchise, it performed surprisingly well with critics and outperformed its predecessor.

The only way to stream Annabelle: Creation is to purchase the film or rent it. Like the other films on this list without a streaming home, HBO Max will pick the film up as it belongs to Warner Brothers.

The Plot

Twentyfour years before Annabelle haunted the Fords, she was created by dollmaker Samuel Mullins. Having made the doll for his seven-year-old his daughter, Annabelle “Bee”, she tragically died after stepping in front of a car. Twelve years later, the Mullins open their home to Sister Charlotte and six homeless orphans. When one of the girls finds the Annebelle doll in Bee’s bedroom, she unknowingly unleashes a violent demon upon her friends and the Mullins.

The Nun (2018)

Director: Corin Hardy
Cast: Demián Bichir, Taissa Farmiga, Bonnie Aarons, Jonas Bloquet, Charlotte Hopes
Streaming on Netflix US: No
Other Regions Streaming: Australia, Japan, Sweden

The Conjuring Universe has done an excellent job creating terrifying villains in the form of Bathsheba, Annabelle and The Nun. The most terrifying-looking of the three, The Nun was also the highest performer out of the entire franchise, credited with a box office haul of $365.6 million. While the film is the highest performer of the franchise, the response from critics was very poor. Regardless, the series still continues to make an incredible amount of money for little cost.

The Nun is available on the streaming service HBO GO. It’s highly unlikely the series will ever come to Netflix in the US, especially with HBO Max launching in Spring 2020.

The Plot

In 1952 Romania, a mysterious and benevolent force is attacking the Nuns of Saint Cartha’s monastery. Sent to investigate is Father Burke and novice Nun Sister Irene. Upon arriving, none of them realize the horror that awaits them inside.

The Curse of La Llorona (2019)

Director: Michael Chaves
Cast: Linda Cardellini, Roman Christou, Jaynee-Lynne Kinchen, Raymond Cruz, Patricia Velásquez
Streaming on Netflix US: No
Other Regions Streaming: No

With such a rich amount of folklore spread across the world, The Conjuring Universe has an overwhelming selection of characters to use in its films. La Llorona’s origins are that of Mexican folklore and is known in English as The Weeping Woman or The Cryer.

The weakest performer of the entire franchise, many fans may be forgiven for not realizing The Curse of La Llorona was apart of The Conjuring Universe. Like all the previous films, James Wan helped with the production of the series as an executive producer. The Curse of La Llorona was the first film in the franchise directed by Michael Chaves. Chaves will also direct The Conjuring 3, with James Wan stepping down as the director of the trilogy. The budget was the second smallest of the franchise at $9 million but still made $122.1 million.

The Curse of La Llorona was released to theatres in April 2019. The first streaming home for the spin-off should be HBO GO, and will eventually move to HBO Max when it launches in Spring 2020.

The Plot

During an investigation into a client’s missing children, Anna Tate-Garcia ignores the warnings of the sorrowful mother whose children have been haunted by the evil spirit La Llorona. When Anna, accidentally captures the attention of La Llorona, her own two sons are drawn into a twisted hunt as the spirit attempts to murder them. The family’s last hope rests in the hands of former priest, Rafael, who practices mysticism to keep evil at bay.

Annabelle Comes Home (2019)

Director: Gary Dauberman
Cast: Mckenna Grace, Madison Iseman, Katie Sarife, Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga
Streaming on Netflix US: No
Other Regions Streaming: No

At the time of writing, Annabelle: Comes Home is the latest film of the franchise and the last in the Annabelle trilogy. Gary Dauberman made his directorial debut in Annabelle: Comes Home, but he was already very familiar with the character as the screenwriter and writer of the first two films. Dauberman was also a writer on both IT films, The Nun, and served as a producer on The Curse of La Llorona. After its third film, the Annabelle trilogy had brought in a combined total of $792.2 million at the box office, an incredible figure considering all three films were produced on a budget just over $52 million.

The Plot

After successfully capturing the Annabelle doll, the Warren’s return to their home and successfully lock the possessed doll away. Many other cursed objects, captured by the Warrens, are also kept in the same room as Annabelle. When the Warrens leave to investigate a new case, their daughter Judy stays behind with her babysitter, Mary Ellen. But when Judy’s friend Daniela sneaks into the artifacts room, she unknowingly unleashes Annabelle and other vengeful and malevolent spirits.
