We’ve just confirmed the series will touch down in full in the United States following its previous rollout to Netflix in other regions in recent years.

The sinkhole is opening up for a whole new audience. After arriving on Netflix in several international territories back in late 2024, the complete NBC sci-fi drama La Brea is finally making its way to Netflix US this spring.

We can officially confirm that all three seasons of La Brea will be available to stream on Netflix US starting Friday, May 1st, 2026. The series has been exclusive to Peacock for the past few years, which makes sense given that the show’s distributor is Universal Television.

If this news sounds familiar, it’s because we’ve been tracking the show’s streaming journey for quite some time. As we reported in late 2024, La Brea was part of an early wave of licensing deals that saw the show hit Netflix in select international regions.

The show even did modestly well despite its limited rollout. According to the Netflix Engagement Reports, it picked up 167 million viewing hours in the last month of 2024 and throughout 2025, equating to 21.5M views.

Now, as NBCUniversal continues to find success by licensing library content to Netflix (following the Suits effect), US subscribers will finally get their turn to binge the prehistoric mystery in its entirety. We don’t know how long it’ll stream on Netflix US. Universal licenses have typically been anywhere between a year and 2-3 years.

The series begins with a catastrophic event: a massive sinkhole opens in the heart of Los Angeles, dragging hundreds of people into a mysterious primordial world. Those who fell must band together to survive a land filled with prehistoric creatures and inexplicable phenomena, while those left above search for a way to rescue them.

The show stars Natalie Zea, Eoin Macken, and Jon Seda. Across its three seasons, the plot evolves from a simple survival story into a complex time-traveling epic that attempts to explain the origin of the rifts in time.

“A high-octane blend of family drama and sci-fi mystery that keeps you guessing until the final episode.”

With only 30 episodes in total, initially airing between 2021 and 2024, La Brea is a much tighter watch than many other network dramas. If you enjoyed Manifest or Terra Nova, this series should be at the top of your May watch list. Was the show canceled? Technically, no. It did, however, end with an “abbreviated” third and final season, meaning it probably was planned to go on further, but at the very least, there is a good ending if that’s what’s concerning you about diving in.
