As revealed by TIME in the Summer 2025 preview guide, Netflix’s new comedy sitcom Leanne will premiere on Netflix on July 31st, 2025. Set to consist of 16 episodes (whether they’ll all drop at once is unclear)
First unveiled in 2024 with filming taking place from November onwards, Leanne is the brand new sitcom that comes from Chuck Lorre, the famed TV producer behind massive hits like The Big Bang Theory and Netflix titles like The Kominsky Method and Disjointed.
Through two sets of reveals for the cast, the final list for who will be starring includes:
- Leanne Morgan (You’re Cordially Invited) as herself
- Kristen Johnston (Austin Powers) as Carol
- Celia Weston (Knight and Day) as Mama Margaret
- Graham Rogers (Love & Mercy) as Tyler
- Blake Clark (50 First Dates) as Daddy John
- Ryan Stiles (The Drew Carey Show) as Bill
- Annie Gonzalez (Flamin’ Hot) as Nora
- Hannah Pilkes (The Woodsman) as Josie
- Algerita Wynn (9-1-1) as Cynthia
The plot of the series is as follows: Leanne never imagined she’d be starting over in her 60s, especially after her husband of 33 years walks out for someone new. Juggling heartbreak, hot flashes, and a fridge full of jello salad, she leans on her quirky but loving family to help her reclaim her life with grit, grace, and just a touch of Midwestern charm.
Filming took place for the series throughout late 2024 and into 2025 at the Warner Bros Studio lot in Los Angeles, California.
Season 1 of the show will consist of 16 episodes, although it’s unclear if Netflix will split those into two sets of eight. Among the writing credits for season 1 are Alexandra Melnick, Amy Hubbs, Anne Flett-Giordano, Chuck Lorre, Jack O’Brien, John Jack O’Brien, Julie Bean, Kelly Farrell, Leanne Morgan, Mark Gross, Matthew McGeehan, Nick Bakay, and Susan McMartin.
