The Straw Hat crew is getting a blocky makeover, and this time it’s on your screens. A brand new two-part animated special, LEGO One Piece, is officially set to drop anchor on Netflix globally on September 29th, 2026.

Much like the many LEGO games, which allow you to play through the events of the titles they’re based on (such as Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings), this two-part special serves as a fun, family-friendly retelling of the unforgettable events from Seasons 1 and 2 of the live-action pirate saga.

According to the official synopsis, the story will be framed through the eyes of Usopp—the Straw Hats’ famously unreliable narrator. We’ll follow along as Usopp regales the crew’s newest and cutest recruit, the reindeer-boy Tony Tony Chopper, with exaggerated tales of the group’s epic exploits across the East Blue and their dangerous entry into the Grand Line.

Netflix’s relationship with LEGO first began in the summer of last year when the streamer confirmed a bunch of sets that would go on sale later in the year. “Bringing the Straw Hat Pirates in LEGO brick form to fans worldwide has been a dream assignment”, said Yi-Chien Cheng, Associate Design Lead on LEGO ONE PIECE in June of last year. “I have always been a big fan of the story of ONE PIECE and it was so exciting to work with the team on building all the details from some of our favourite locations and scenes in the live-action Netflix show in brick form. I cannot wait for fans of both the LEGO Group and ONE PIECE to get their hands on these sets and start charting their own courses into the Grand Line.”

Who is behind the new special?

Netflix has pulled together a solid roster of studios to bring this to life. The project is a massive collaboration between The LEGO Group, Japanese publisher Shueisha, and Tomorrow Studios (the production company behind the live-action One Piece).

Animation duties are being handled by Atomic Cartoons, the Vancouver-based studio best known for their work on Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends and Netflix’s own Hilda and The Last Kids on Earth. Tom Hyndman is on board as the showrunner, writer, and executive producer for the special.

Of course, it wouldn’t be One Piece without the involvement of its legendary creator. Eiichiro Oda is attached as an executive producer. Rounding out the executive producing team are:

  • Jill Wilfert, Keith Malone, and Lars Danielsen (for The LEGO Group)
  • Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements (for Tomorrow Studios)

The voice cast is expected to differ from the live-action series, we’re told.

Sidenote: We first reached out to Netflix PR about a LEGO ONE PIECE series back in April 2025, and they declined to comment at the time. They told us they’d keep us in the loop with anything that came along, but they didn’t.

You can add the show to your Netflix queue here and don’t forget that season 3 if the live-action series is on the way.
