Following a stellar sophomore run, the hit comedy series The Four Seasons is gearing up for its third vacation. With filming officially slated for this fall, here is everything we know so far about Season 3 of the Tina Fey-led ensemble comedy, including our release date prediction.
Based on the 1981 Alan Alda film, The Four Seasons has quickly become one of Netflix’s premier comedy staples. Helmed by creators and showrunners Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield, the Universal Television production has successfully navigated the highs and lows of long-term friendships.
While other comedies have occasionally struggled to maintain a foothold in the Netflix Top 10s, The Four Seasons fared better than most. We weren’t totally shocked when the series was renewed back in June, especially given the optimistic notes the creators shared about a potential renewal before the announcement.
Now, we finally have an update on when the cameras will start rolling.
What is the production status of The Four Seasons Season 3?
According to newly released production listings, Season 3 is currently in pre-production.
Filming for the upcoming eight-episode season is officially scheduled to begin in mid-September 2026 and will wrap right before the holidays in mid-December 2026. Exact filming locations have yet to be revealed, but we suspect the core of the show will remain in the New York/New Jersey region and don’t rule out additional trips to Italy.
What to expect from Season 3
The Season 2 finale of The Four Seasons splits our favorite messy friend group across the globe, mixing emotional breakthroughs with major life changes. After Danny gets word of a family medical emergency, his holiday is cut short with a rushed flight back to Philadelphia. Realizing that Danny’s mother needs full-time support, Claude makes the ultimate romantic gesture, deciding that he and Danny will leave Italy behind to move in and care for her together. Meanwhile, Jack and Kate share a much-needed emotional triumph; after Jack tearfully confesses over dinner that he feels like a failure, Kate pushes him out of his rut by talking him into running a local marathon in Claude’s borrowed clothes. With Kate cheering him on and physically helping him cross the finish line, the couple ends their Italian getaway stronger than ever.
On the comedic side, Anne’s attempt to “reinvent” herself leads to absolute disaster when she tracks down Mark’s number, only to discover he has a girlfriend. A desperate attempt to prove she’s living her best Eat Pray Love life results in a mortifying texting spree that culminates in her accidentally sending him a photo of her nether regions. Thankfully, a well-timed pep talk from Ginny encourages Anne to finally live for herself, prompting her to stay behind in Europe to house-sit Danny and Claude’s now-vacant home. Just as the rest of the group departs and Anne settles into her newfound independence, the finale drops one last massive cliffhanger: a knock at the door reveals her new neighbor is played by none other than David Tennant, perfectly setting the stage for a complicated Season 3.

The updated production listing confirms our core series regulars are all packing their bags:

Additionally, Steven Pasquale will be returning in his recurring role as Mark Brett, and we have official confirmation that Doctor Who and Broadchurch alum David Tennant is joining the cast in a recurring role as Gianpiero.
When will The Four Seasons Season 3 release on Netflix?
Netflix has not officially announced a release date for Season 3 yet, but based on the production schedules of the prior seasons, we can make a very accurate prediction.
Because The Four Seasons relies heavily on single-camera, on-location shooting, its post-production turnaround is relatively snappy for a 30-minute comedy.
- Season 1 filmed in the early months of 2024 and hit Netflix roughly six months after wrapping.
- Season 2 followed a similar trajectory; cameras wrapped in late 2025, and the season premiered on Netflix in the late spring of 2026.
With Season 3 slated to wrap up filming in mid-December 2026, the post-production team will likely need about five to six months to finalize the eight episodes. Therefore, we predict The Four Seasons Season 3 will be released on Netflix in summer 2027 (most likely May or June).
