Has it been a year already? The Four Seasons recently returned to Netflix for a second season, and despite a drop in viewership compared to its debut, Netflix has officially renewed the hit comedy for an eight-episode third season! Here’s everything we know so far about the upcoming third season.

The Four Seasons is a Netflix Original comedy series co-created by Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracy Wigfield. The series is an adaptation of Alan Alda’s 1981 comedy film of the same name, which he wrote and directed. The second season of The Four Seasons expands upon the story of the original film, exploring new romance, friendship dynamics, and drama.

The second season stars Tina Fey, Will Forte, Kerri Kenney, Marco Calvani, Erika Henningsen, Colman Domingo, Steve Carell, Steven Pasquale, and David Tennant.

The dynamics of a group of six friends who regularly vacation together are thrown into chaos when Nick divorces his wife of 25 years, Anne, and soon finds a much younger woman who joins him on subsequent trips.

Official Renewal Status: Renewed (Last Updated: 15/06/2026)

Great news for fans of the comedy series: Netflix has officially renewed The Four Seasons for an eight-episode third season!

The news was shared live onstage by Netflix’s Head of Scripted Series for US and Canada, Jinny Howe, during a fireside chat at the BANFF World Media Festival.

Co-creators and co-showrunners Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield shared their excitement in a statement:

“We are thrilled to be able to bring a third season of The Four Seasons to life. Thank you to everyone who watched. Middle-aged people, LFG!”

Tracey Pakosta, Netflix Vice President of US Comedy, added:

“It’s been a joy watching the chaotic, beautiful journey of these lifelong friends. Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield have a magical way of blending heart and sharp humor, making us feel like part of the inner circle. Audiences have fallen in love with these characters and this legendary cast’s electric chemistry. We’re thrilled to keep the vacation going for Season 3.”

The renewal comes despite the second season seeing a major decline in week 1 viewership compared to its debut season, with a 63% drop. Previously, this could’ve have been a nail in the coffin for a Netflix Original, as a decline in viewership often led to cancellation, but in recent years, comedy shows have become a major exception.

Nobody Wants This, Running Point, A Man on the Inside, and more have all experienced a decline in viewership but have still received renewals.

The closest decline in viewership for The Four Seasons was A Man on the Inside, which saw a 66% decline, and didn’t even feature in the weekly top 10s. However, Netflix still decided to renew the series for a third season. Fortunately, following its May 28, 2026 release, Season 2 of The Four Seasons reached the Top 10 in 56 countries and had enough staying power to drive Season 1 back onto the chart, securing its third season!

What to expect from a third season?

We have an ending-explained article here for a more in-depth look at how The Four Seasons season 2 ended.

Everyone in the friend group has entered new chapters of their lives.

Claude and Danny

Despite plans to start a B&B with Kate, Danny decided to move to Italy with Claude, but life got in the way when the pair ultimately stayed in America to care for Danny’s elderly mother. The decision to do so was ultimately made by Claude.

Claude is still desperate to return to Italy, but how long he and Danny will be taking care of Danny’s mother remains to be seen. We’d expect the third season to explore how the end of her life will impact Danny and his relationship with Claude.

There would be a cruel irony if anything happened to a member of Claude’s family in Italy while he’s busy helping care for Danny’s mother. At the very least, Claude will definitely want to return to Italy, and the longer the wait, the more strain it could place on his relationship with Danny.

Kate and Jack

Despite their mishaps and miscommunication, the pair overcame a huge personal hurdle in season 2 thanks to the impromptu marathon Jack was encouraged to run in Italy after his injury kept him from running a marathon in the USA. The pair completed the marathon together and confessed their love to each other in their jubilation over their achievement.

With their marriage seemingly back on track, it would be great to see the pair overcome their miscommunication issues from the first 2 seasons. This could take the form of renewing their vows, or, instead of attempting another solo venture, they could join forces to achieve Kate’s plan to open a B&B.

Anne & Ginny

Anne spent the season trying to overcome her grief and reinventing herself as “Anne 2.0.” She also found a great friend in Ginny, Nick’s girlfriend, who moved in with Anne and supported her during Ginny’s first few months of motherhood.

With Danny and Claude’s plans to Italy on the back burner, Anne decided to stay in Italy and housesit for them. Over the summer in New Jersey, she had a flash-in-the-pan romance with Mark, but it ended quickly when Mark found a new girlfriend, and Anne lied to him about living in Italy and having found a new boyfriend, “Gianpiero.” Life works in mysterious ways: she has a meet-cute with a man named Gianpiero (played by David Tennant), who has been receiving her mail.

If David Tennant returns in the third season, then we can expect them to explore a potential romance between Anne and Gianpiero. It will be sweet to see where this romance could take Anne, as she may commit to starting a new life in Italy, or alternatively, Gianpiero could come with her to America.

As for Ginny, she is learning life as a single and independent mother to her and Nick’s child, Gino. How much she will be featured in the third season remains to be seen, but we’d like to think that between Claude, Danny, Kate, Jack, and Anne, they will check in on her and Gino regularly.

When could we expect to see The Four Seasons season 3 on Netflix?

The first and second seasons were released in May of their respective years. While the second season was released at the end of May rather than the beginning of May, if the third season was to follow suit with a similar production cycle, we would expect either a May or June 2027 release.
