The tables will be turned on Mickey in season 4 of The Lincoln Lawyer. Instead of interrogating or trying to absolve defendants, he will be the defendant himself after the shocking cliffhanger at the end of season 3. With the renewal long in the rear-view mirror of our Lincoln and production soon coming to a close, we thought we should give you an updated guide on everything that’s currently known about season 4 of The Lincoln Lawyer, which does not yet have an official release date.
It was on January 21st, 2025, when Netflix finally gave the thumbs up to another season of the series led by co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez, although thanks to Neve Campbell suggesting earlier in the year she’d already signed up for 10 more episodes, it seemed like it was already in the bag early on.
The show continues to be a big hit for Netflix. Although it’s hard to compare season 3 with season 2 (the latter was released in two parts, therefore confusing the views), we do know that season 3 spent six weeks in the global top 10s, picking up 239.70 million hours watched, equating to 28.10 million views. Expanded to the entire second half of 2024 (via the Netflix Engagement Report), we know the series pulled in a whopping 32.50M views for the last six months of the year, making it the 15th most-watched TV series for that period. We did a deeper analysis of the stats for The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 in our renewal article.
What’s the plot of The Lincoln Lawyer season 4?
As suggested in our introduction, Mickey Haller is in some hot water in season 4. In the season 3 finale, Haller is pulled over by the police and arrested after they find the body of a client of his in the trunk of his car. Headed to jail, he’ll have to take the stand and be judged by a jury of peers as to whether he committed the crime, all while being prosecuted by a friend of his now ex-wife.
As we’ve covered previously, the show is largely sticking with the format of the books, although not necessarily in the correct order. Here’s how the adaptations have worked so far:
- The Lincoln Lawyer (2005)
- The Brass Verdict (2008) – adapted in season 1
- The Reversal (2010)
- The Fifth Witness (2011) – adapted in season 2
- The Gods of Guilt (2013) – adapted in season 3
- The Law of Innocence (2020) – confirmed to be adapted in season 4
- Resurrection Walk (2023)

When will The Lincoln Lawyer season 4 come to Netflix? Where is the show in production?
Filming on the show kicked off on February 7th, 2025 and is one of the biggest Netflix shows to still film in Los Angeles and usually, on location. Filming is currently due to wrap up on June 17th, 2025.
After filming began in early February, Netflix shared two pictures from the set.
- LARA SOLANKI/NETFLIX
- LARA SOLANKI/NETFLIX
At the moment, a 2026 release date is expected. That’s based on the fact that Netflix hasn’t included it in its 2025 slate and given the production dates, any rush to get season 4 out this year does seem like a bit of a stretch. Instead, we’re expecting an early-to-mid 2026 release date.
While waiting for the next season of The Lincoln Lawyer, we’d highly recommend checking out Pedro Paramo, the Mexican fantasy horror film that dropped on Netflix last year. It scored mostly positive reviews, but if you want to see Manuel Garcia-Rulfo in a very different setting, we’d give it our recommendation. Of course, you’ll also be able to catch the rising actor this summer at the box office, where he’ll star alongside Scarlett Johansson in the latest Jurassic World movie.
