In a major streaming milestone, Roku is licensing its first original series, ‘Emeril Cooks’, to Netflix in the United States alongside PBS’s ‘America’s Test Kitchen’.

Netflix often licenses reality shows from numerous distributors and networks, but this one is a first in our books: The Roku Channel’s Emeril Cooks will be touching down on Netflix in the US on July 7th, 2026, for the first time.

For those unfamiliar, the series first debuted as a Roku Original back in 2022. It sees the legendary chef Emeril Lagasse (best known for his days on the Food Network before he was ousted) blending his signature passion for food with the rich culinary history of New Orleans, highlighting local businesses and whipping up some incredible dishes in his own kitchen.

The series has run for multiple seasons although it’s unclear right now how many will be licensed to Netflix.

Seeing a Roku Original make the jump to Netflix US is a fascinating development in the streaming space. Netflix has pretty much licensed from all of its competitors at this point. While Roku has built up a solid library over the last few years—from scooping up the defunct Quibi catalog to producing flagship movies like Weird: The Al Yankovic Story—they haven’t licensed their homegrown originals out to Netflix stateside before. You may might point out that the Roku Original movie Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas was licensed to Netflix a while back, but that was strictly for international regions like Australia and parts of Europe. Emeril Cooks breaks new ground as the first to hit the US library, and we’ll be keeping a close eye out to see if more Roku titles follow suit.

That’s not the only new cooking content coming to Netflix on the licensed front. Beginning June 17th, the streamer will add multiple seasons of America’s Test Kitchen. The beloved, long-running PBS staple is renowned for its scientific approach to recipes, rigorous kitchen equipment reviews, and foolproof cooking tips. If you’re looking to elevate your home-cooking game, this is the ultimate binge-watch. Season 24, 25 and 26 will drop on Netflix US.

Also on the menu is Restaurant War Street King Thailand, which will be dropping weekly episodes beginning Sunday, June 14th. Netflix has been hitting it out of the park with international culinary hits lately, and this new Thai reality series promises high-stakes kitchen drama, mouth-watering street food challenges, and a fierce battle to see who will be crowned the ultimate street food king.

Furthermore, starting today, Netflix just dropped its first episode of a new season of Recipe Club “At The Movies” with David Chang and Chris Ying, with the first guest being Sean Fennessey. That’s in addition to regular episodes of The Dave Chang Show dropping 2 new episodes every week. This continues the fruitful, ongoing partnership between Netflix and Majordomo Media, giving foodies an insightful behind-the-scenes look at the culinary world and its intersection with pop culture.

Whether you’re craving high-end cuisine, international street food battles, or casual food-centric banter, the next few weeks are shaping up to be deliciously packed for Netflix subscribers.

On Netflix’s own Original slate, the cooking output seems a little thin right now. Next Gen Chef appears to have been shelved after a single season, debuting last September. All of the Iron Chef titles look to be on pause, too. The international side is a little rosier with Culinary Class Wars due to return with season 3, and of course, The Great British Baking Show will return in the US later this year.
