What happened to Being Human (US) on Netflix?

For those wanting to watch Being Human, Netflix is no longer streaming the series in the United States. The series left Netflix in January and we’ve got more details on the removal plus the status of the show in other regions below.

As many will know, Being Human was a British show that was adapted for the US market by Syfy. The adaptation wasn’t a horror show like most that get ported over for American audiences but failed to have longevity on Syfy.

As you’ve probably figured out by now, Netflix has removed all four seasons of the show from the service.

The series first debuted on Netflix on September 15th, 2014 and got its fourth and final season added to the service on January 13th, 2015. Four years later, it was removed from Netflix.

Why did Netflix remove Being Human?

Let’s provide a bit of context to Being Human on Netflix. The series comes from Syfy as we’ve already said above. Syfy owns the property and can choose where the series streams in the form of licensing. What happens is that Netflix buys the streaming license to the show but it’s only for a fixed period.

What happened here is that Netflix or Syfy decided to end the streaming license. Our hunch is that Netflix decided to end the agreement as older shows (except in some circumstances) tend to pull in fewer viewers.

Where will Being Human stream now?

Sadly, a new streaming home isn’t immediately clear. The Sharknado franchise which also recently left Netflix from the Syfy library found its way onto Amazon Prime soon after the removal.

Amazon Prime would also make sense given the original British series is also currently streaming there too. We’ll update this post once we learn of where the series has moved to.
