When Will ‘Outlander’ Season 8 Be On Netflix?

Netflix in the US will have the longest to wait for season 8 but will get new episodes next year while others should get season 8 much sooner.

On our screens for the past ten years, Outlander will go down in the history books as one of the best historical fantasy series of all time. In 2026, the series will be returning for its eighth and final season, but when will it be streaming on Netflix? The answer depends on where you live.

The show remains pretty popular on Netflix despite never featuring in the weekly global top 10s. According to the Netflix Engagement Reports, the show has clocked in 1.03 billion viewing hours between January 2023 and June 2025, which equates to roughly 84.9M views.

Season 8 hasn’t set a firm release date yet, although at San Diego Comic Con in July, Starz previewed the new season in a 2-minute and 26-second teaser trailer, confirming that the series will premiere in “early 2026.” The final 10 episodes will be adapting both Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone and A Blessing For A Warrior, which are the ninth and tenth novels in the series by Diana Gabaldon.

Outlander Season 8 Will Drop Weekly in Select International Territories And Much Later Elsewhere…

Most international territories (excluding the UK, notably) carry Outlander in some form or another. Those who will be getting season 8 weekly beginning in early 2026 include:

  • Belgium
  • France
  • Hong Kong
  • India
  • Japan
  • Malaysia
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Romania
  • Singapore
  • Slovakia
  • Switzerland
  • South Korea

For other territories, like the Netherlands, Argentina, Brazil, South Africa, Mexico, and Sweden, you’ll have to wait until around a year after the season has wrapped up and local broadcasters exhaust their exclusive window. That means the series won’t drop until sometime in late 2026 or most likely, 2027.

When will Netflix US stream season 8 of Outlander?

The United States, much like all prior seasons, will have the longest wait for a new season of Outlander, sadly. As we’ve covered many times before, Netflix’s deal for the show is with Sony Pictures Television, which can only license to Netflix in the US after an exclusivity period with Starz.

That period has been two years after the finale airs. That’s most recently been the case for season 7 of Outlander, which saw the first eight episodes of its 16-episode season touch down on August 11th, 2025, exactly two years after the finale aired.

That means the next batch of Outlander episodes won’t be touching down on Netflix US until early 2027, with the remaining eight episodes of season 7 dropping on January 17th, 2027.

What about season 8? That wait is even longer. Providing the series airs in early 2026 and wraps up in mid-2026, you won’t be seeing those 10 episodes landing on Netflix in the US until mid-2028. Yes, three years away from the publication of this article.

If you want to watch the new episodes as soon as they land, you’ll need Starz.

Are any of the Outlander spin-offs on Netflix?

Of course, while the main Outlander series is coming to an end, the franchise, as it were, is continuing on primarily in the form of the prequel series Outlander: Blood of My Blood, which has already premiered its first season and will be returning for season 2 in due course.

For the moment at least, it doesn’t look like they’ll be heading to Netflix anywhere anytime soon, with most streaming rights snapped up by other providers. We could see other shows land on Netflix in a few years, with Sony Pictures Television also behind this spin-off, but there’s no guarantee – we’ll keep you posted if anything changes.
