The Sheridan-verse is continuing its licensing foray on Netflix. Beginning on July 9, 2025, the first season of one of the prequels to Yellowstone will be available on Netflix in international territories, including most European regions, the United Kingdom, and places further afield, such as Latin America, including Brazil.
It’s been a big few years for the Sheridan-verse on Netflix. It began with the rollout of Yellowstone on Netflix in select regions, beginning in January 2024. That rollout continued throughout the year, with more regions of Netflix beginning to license the series. The expansion of territories licensing continued into 2025, with the addition of the UK.
The show, in almost every region where it was released, featured in the daily top 10s for a handful of days and is currently licensed through to at least 2027. Netflix US was notably missing from the deal, where the show is exclusive to Peacock for the time being. The addition to Netflix does not affect the show’s availability on Paramount+, which streams newer seasons that are not yet licensed to Netflix. Netflix currently streams seasons 1 through 4 in most territories, with season 5 expected, but not confirmed, for a later date.
The expansion continued earlier this year with the arrival of one of the many shows attached to the Yellowstone universe: the limited series 1883. Most regions that carry Yellowstone have picked it up, and now another prequel is joining.
Titled 1923, the series is headlined by Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford, following the Dutton family during the Prohibition era, as they face assaults across multiple fronts. The ensemble is rounded out by Brandon Sklenar, Julia Schlaepfer, Jerome Flynn, Darren Mann, and Isabel May. The first season premiered on Netflix in late 2022, with the second and final season premiering earlier in 2025.
Well-reviewed by critics and audiences alike, the show is considered the best of the Yellowstone universe’s expansion. Only the first season is expected to join Netflix for the moment with he goal of driving subs to Paramount+ to watch the second and final season.
