When it comes to multi-cam sitcoms, Netflix has a mixed history. So many have come and gone before their time, but even so, there’ve been a few standouts. In this post, we explore 10 of the best offerings from the streamer.
Netflix has green-lit a bunch of multicam sitcoms over the years. Unfortunately, so many of them never got off the ground. For instance, shows that never surpassed one season include The Big Show Show, All About the Washingtons, and Disjointed. In this post, we look at the 10 best multicam sitcoms Netflix has to offer — from multi-season wonders, to series that were prematurely axed (but are still worth watching).
No Good Nick
- Genre: Comedy, Family
- Rating: TV-PG
- Release Date: August 5, 2019
- Cast: Siena Agudong, Lauren Lindsey Donzis, Kalama Epstein, Sean Astin
- Language: English
- Runtime: 30 min
While cancelled before its time, No Good Nick remains an enjoyable watch for Netflix subscribers. Starring Melissa Joan Hart and Sean Astin, it begins when a rough, street-smart teenage girl, Nick (Siena Agudong), shows up at a family’s doorstep claiming to be a distant relative. Is she really related? Or is there something more malevolent at play?
The concept of No Good Nick, mixed with its surprising twists and comedic beats, makes it a remarkably fun and unique watch. Netflix definitely made a mistake cancelling this show so soon.
Team Kaylie
- Genre: Comedy
- Rating: TV-PG
- Release Date: February 3, 2020
- Cast: Alison Fernandez, Bryana Salaz, Symera Jackson, Elie Samouhi
- Language: English
Running for one season across three parts, Team Kaylie stars Bryana Salaz as Kaylie Konrad, a teenage celebrity billionaire. Such fame and power at an immature young age comes at a price — and Kaylie is made by the court to lead a middle school wilderness club as community service.
Ratings on Team Kaylie were mixed. Many enjoyed its subversive storytelling about dropping a spoilt, glam teen into a world of hart work and teamwork.
Mr. Iglesias
- Genre: Comedy
- Rating: TV-14
- Release Date: December 8, 2020
- Cast: Gloria Aung, Gabriel Iglesias, Sherri Shepherd, Jacob Vargas
- Language: English
- Runtime: 30 min
Stand-up comedian Gabriel Iglesias takes the spotlight as Mr. Iglesias, a series about a good-natured high school history teacher who specialises in teaching gifted-but-misfit kids to unlock their full potential. Formerly an alcoholic, Mr. Iglesias finds his vocation in teaching.
The multicam sitcom was a success at Netflix; it currently stands at a solid 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It ran for two seasons (split into 3 parts) before being cancelled. Had Netflix renewed it further, the show would undoubtedly rank higher on this list.
Family Reunion
- Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance
- Rating: PG-13
- Release Date: November 1, 2023
- Director: Tyler Perry
- Cast: Tyler Perry, Blair Underwood, Lynn Whitfield
- Language: English
- Runtime: 107 min
Family Reunion is all about the McKellen family, who move from Seattle to Georgia, co-living with their extended family. It sets up fun and interesting dynamics, plenty of drama, and of course, tons of laughs.
Family Reunion stars Richard Roundtree, Talia Jackson, and Jordyn Raya James. It ended after three seasons at Netflix. While it could have gone on for longer, the series did reach a natural conclusion.
That 90s Show
- Genre: Comedy, Drama, Romance
- Rating: TV-14
- Release Date: January 19, 2023
- Cast: Debra Jo Rupp, Kurtwood Smith, Callie Haverda, Ashley Aufderheide, Mace Coronel, Reyn Doi
- Language: English
- Runtime: 30 mins
While a successor to beloved sitcom That ’70s Show, you can also watch That ’90s Show as a standalone series. Granted, you’d understand and appreciate the connections more if you watched the original. The 3-season sitcom is a feel-good, quirky, and nostalgic dive into the 1990s.
Set in 1995, the series follows Leia Forman — the daughter of Eric and Donna from That ’70s Show — who spends the summer with her grandparents in Wisconsin. It chronicles her friendships, relationships, awkward moments, and the trials and tribulations of teen life in the ’90s.
While Season 1 was a big success and had a huge debut, people did not stick around, sadly leading to its swift cancellation after a bumper second season. The original, while streaming on Netflix for many years, remains away from the streamer in more recent years.
Leanne
- Genre: Stand-up, Comedy
- Rating: TV-14
- Release Date: November 4, 2025
- Director: Manny Rodriguez
- Cast: Leanne Morgan
- Language: English
- Runtime: 65 mins
Leanne is Netflix’s standout multcam series of 2025. Witty and charming, Leanne sets up a simple premise: when her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman, Leanne starts again with the support of her loving and supportive (but quirky) family.
The series is created and headlined by comedian Leanne Morgan, who used her own stand-up routines as inspiration. She wrote the series alongside Susan McMartin (Mom) and Chuck Lorre (The Big Bang Theory).
Alexa & Katie
No results found for the specified search.
Netflix’s first multicam sitcom, Alexa & Katie currently holds a perfect 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is testament to its popularity. Running for four seasons, the series is far from just another high school drama. It deals with heavy topics. For instance, Alexa undergoes cancer treatment while trying to adjust to the minefield that is high school. But she’s got Katie by her side through everything, and together they navigate their teenage years.
Alexa & Katie ran for four seasons before reaching its natural conclusion.
One Day at a Time
- Genre: Comedy
- Rating: TV-PG
- Release Date: February 8, 2019
- Cast: Justina Machado, Todd Grinnell, Isabella Gomez, Marcel Ruiz
- Language: English
- Runtime: 30 min
In One Day at a Time, we follow a Cuban-American family. Penelope Alvarez is a single mother and army veteran who raises her two kids, supported by her mother Lydia. The series is undeniably a comedy, but it’s also socially conscious, offering a deep exploration of motherhood and an emotional journey at times.
One Day at a Time ran for three seasons at Netflix before being picked up for a further season at PopTV.
Fuller House
- Genre: Comedy, Family
- Rating: TV-G
- Release Date: June 2, 2020
- Cast: Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, Andrea Barber, Michael Campion
- Language: English
- Runtime: 30 min
It’s impossible to discuss multicam sitcoms on Netflix without discussing Fuller House. Created by Jeff Franklin, the series is the ultimate comfort show; it feels like it was made back in the 1990s. A follow-up to cult 1980s series Full House (but still very much its own thing), Fuller House marks the return of Candace Cameron Bure, Jodie Sweetin, and Andrea Barber.
We catch up with D.J. Tanner-Fuller, now a busy, widowed mum of three, who gets help from her sister Stephanie and best friend Kimmy — once again finding herself in a full house.
Fuller House was ultimately cancelled at Netflix after 5 seasons and 75 episodes, with a drop in viewership cited as the main reason for its demise. Even so, it’s still well worth checking out, especially if you were a fan of Full House.
The Ranch
- Genre: Comedy, Drama, Western
- Rating: TV-MA
- Release Date: January 24, 2020
- Cast: Ashton Kutcher, Sam Elliott, Grady Lee Richmond, Elisha Cuthbert
- Language: English
- Runtime: 30 min
The Ranch is headlined by Ashton Kutcher, who plays Colt, a semi-pro footballer whose career ends in a failure. Colt ultimately returns home to his family ranch. Colt decides to run a ranching business with his now-estranged father, Beau (Sam Elliott), but as they try to grow the business, family politics get in the way, and he’s also caught up in a love triangle between his girlfriend and a high school sweetheart.
The Ranch began in 2016, running for 8 parts across 4 seasons. While Netflix has certainly struggled with multicam sitcoms over the years, this is not one of them. It’s a fan-favorite despite a bit of a cloud hanging over it (Google Danny Masterson) and sadly, Netflix hasn’t been able to replicate the formula just yet.
