July 2025 was a big month for Indian comedies, from romcoms to stand-up specials to celebrity chat shows.
Though modest by the numbers, this was a busy month for Netflix India. Three new Originals debuted: the romantic comedy Aap Jaisa Koi, the crime series Mandala Murders, and another new stand-up special from Vir Das. Plus, two ongoing weekly series continued to add to their episode counts. Here are all of the Indian movies and series added to Netflix in July 2025.

New Indian Movies on Netflix: July 2025
Thug Life (2025)

Thug Life stars legendary actor Kamal Haasan in a big-budget gangster tale of betrayal, revenge, and redemption. It’s directed by one of India’s most celebrated filmmakers, Mani Ratnam (take a moment to add Dil Se to your Netflix “Remind Me” queue if you haven’t seen it, trust me). Thug Life should have been a guaranteed blockbuster. Instead, it flopped at the box office and wound up on Netflix less than a month after its theatrical release. Life in a … Metro (2007)

After expiring in late April, the romantic drama Life in a … Metro is back, presumably because Netflix has the streaming rights to the recently released theatrical sequel, Metro… in Dino (we expect it to come to Netflix in late August or early September). The original features a talented ensemble cast and focuses on the romantic struggles of young people in Mumbai, touching on topics like career advancement, extramarital affairs, and fear of commitment.
8 Vasantalu (2025)

In 8 Vasanthalu (“8 Seasons“), Ananthika Sanilkumar plays an up-and-coming author. Her father’s death prompts her to use her writing to chronicle the ways she is transformed by first love and heartbreak, moving through “seasons” on her journey of self-discovery. Aap Jaisa Koi (“Someone Like You“) is a sweet romantic comedy that feels like a bit of a throwback, but in a good way. Still single in his 40s, shy Sanskrit teacher Shri finally meets a woman — a fellow teacher, no less — smitten by his awkward social charms. They fall in love quickly, only for Shri’s old-fashioned ideas to threaten their happy ever after. Director Vivek Soni does a wonderful job visualizing songs to enhance the story, a classic feature of Bollywood films that contemporary directors often skip. Not only are Ujjwalan’s neighbors in danger, but so is his reputation as the village’s resident crime-solver!

Vir Das is one of Netflix’s favorite comedians, and he’s back with a new stand-up special: Fool Volume. Weeks before he was set to record Fool Volume — which was filmed in Mumbai, New York, and London — Vir lost his voice. Forced to adjust his plans, this new special is more personal than any of his previous works. Vir told Netflix that Fool Volume “is a celebration of that shared language of finding joy in the chaos, meaning in the absurd, and kindness in the noise. If someone watches it and feels a little lighter, a little more understood, or just laughs until their stomach hurts. That’s the magic I’m chasing.”

Mandala Murders (2025) N

Film star Vaani Kapoor makes her series debut with Mandala Murders. Kapoor stars as detective Rea Thomas, who’s called in to investigate some strange, ritualistic killings in a small town. She’s assisted by Vikram Singh (Vaibhav Raj Gupta of Mai: A Mother’s Rage), a cop with a checkered past. As they delve into the case, they uncover connections both mythological and political, facing danger from unexpected threats as they get closer to the truth. Ongoing Weekly Indian Series on Netflix: July 2025
C.I.D. (2025)
Language: Hindi
Season: 1

Genre: Police Procedural | New Episodes: Saturday and Sunday
Given that C.I.D.‘s first season (which isn’t on Netflix) spanned 20 years and 1,500 episodes, Netflix had to find a way to organize the ongoing episodes of C.I.D. Season 2. Episodes are grouped into 25-episode sets that can be selected from the same dropdown menu used for multi-season shows. As of now, we’re in the middle of the “Episodes 51-75” set. If you’re a police procedural fan looking for a long-term series commitment, C.I.D. might be for you.
The Great Indian Kapil Show (2025) N

New episodes of The Great Indian Kapil Show added in July feature guest appearances by the casts of Metro… in Dino and Son of Sardaar 2, cricket players, and YouTubers. The July 12 episode highlights four actors who found fame in streaming series and films — Jaideep Ahlawat (Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins), Vijay Varma (She), Pratik Gandhi (Dhoom Dhaam), and Jitendra Kumar (Kota Factory) — and a special appearance by global pop star and Got7 member Jackson Wang!
