Over the past few years, Netflix has seen hundreds of Netflix Original titles leave as their exclusive periods come to an end naturally or prematurely. 2026 is just around the corner, so we’ll give you very advanced notice about series that might leave next year.
We’ll note this multiple times throughout this article, but we must stress that these removal dates are highly subject to change. As we’ve covered previously, while many shows and movies do get removed when we report them, they are always up for renegotiation and can be renewed at a moment’s notice.
She-Ra and the Princess of Power (Seasons 1-5)
- Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure, Comedy, Drama, Family, Fantasy, Sci-Fi
- Rating: TV-Y7-FV
- Release Date: May 15, 2020
- Cast: Aimee Carrero, Marcus Scribner, Karen Fukuhara, AJ Michalka
- Language: English
- Runtime: 30 min
Netflix has had a great relationship with DreamWorks Television over the years, with hundreds of episodes of well-known IP coming to the streamer, although sadly, they’ve also been leaving Netflix much faster than many would have liked. She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, from creator ND Stevenson, is next up for removal. Serving as a reboot of the 1985 series, it ran for five seasons on Netflix, with 52 episodes.
We do have some good news about a potential renewal on this one, though. Although the majority of DreamWorks Television titles ultimately depart, we have seen a number of them renewed, and their departure dates have been pushed back. Fingers crossed the same happens for She-Ra and the Princess of Power.
There are a number of other DreamWorks titles that could also depart throughout 2026, based on our intel, including all of Guillermo del Toro’s Tales of Arcadia, Kipo and the Age of the Wonderbeasts, The Boss Baby, Dragons, Captain Underpants, and more.
Arrested Development (Seasons 1-5)
- Genre: Comedy
- Rating: TV-PG
- Release Date: March 15, 2019
- Cast: Jason Bateman, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett, Michael Cera
- Language: English
- Runtime: 22 min
Yes, we’ve been here before! Arrested Development was initially due to leave in 2023, but was given an extension; that time is nearly up… It was initially due to leave on March 15th, 2023, but it became clear that the rights were being negotiated at the time, when it was pushed back another week, before Netflix itself eventually confirmed the show wouldn’t be going anywhere… until 2026 anyway.
Created by Mitchell Hurwitz, the irreverent comedy series featuring Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Will Arnett, and Tony Hale originally aired on Fox before getting a revival fourth season on Netflix (later recut, with the original no longer available) and a fifth (and maybe final?) season. Much like another show on this list, there’s been constant talk of yet another revival, but it’s never materialized.
Better Than Us
- Genre: Drama, Sci-Fi
- Release Date: August 16, 2019
- Cast: Paulina Andreeva, Kirill Käro, Aleksandr Ustyugov
- Language: Russian
- Runtime: 52 min
Serving as the first Netflix Original production from Russia, this perhaps timely sci-fi series picked up a ton of fans from across the world upon its initial release and is still a compelling watch to this day. Set in 2029, the series unfolds in a world where androids have replaced humans in many menial jobs, following Arisa, an advanced robot secretly imported to Russia by the CRONOS corporation from China, who, after accidentally killing a man attempting to use her as a sex robot and revealing she is not bound by Asimov’s Three Laws of Robotics but instead programmed to protect her family at all costs, bonds with a young girl named Sonya and becomes her guardian, while parallel storylines explore Egor Safronov and his girlfriend Zhanna’s involvement with the anti-droid militant group “Liquidators,” and CRONOS head Viktor Toropov’s desperate attempts to conceal that his company cannot replicate another Arisa.
This is the second major Russian removal in recent years, following the fan-favorite show To The Lake, which departed in late 2025. Given that Netflix has entirely pulled out of Russia, it’s highly unlikely this one will be renewed or even find a new home. Given that, we’d recommend watching it before it departs as it’s likely to become lost media, at least in the West.
The End of the F***ing World
- Genre: Adventure, Comedy, Crime, Drama, Romance, Thriller
- Rating: TV-MA
- Release Date: November 5, 2019
- Cast: Jessica Barden, Alex Lawther, Naomi Ackie, Steve Oram
- Language: English
- Runtime: 25 min
Easily still one of the best British shows to ever grace Netflix is The End of the F**ing World. This sometimes bizarre series is adapted from Charles Forsman’s graphic novel of the same name. Blending biting humor, existential dread, and a touch of teenage absurdity, the show follows James (Alex Lawther), a self-proclaimed psychopath, and Alyssa (Jessica Barden), a rebellious runaway, as they embark on a chaotic road trip that spirals into something far deeper than either expected. What begins as a story about murder and mischief slowly transforms into one about trauma, connection, and the fragile weirdness of love.
Netflix carried the exclusive streaming rights in international territories, helping the show find a massive global audience far beyond its Channel 4 broadcast in the UK with the removal now timed exactly seven years after that second season landed.
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life
- Genre: Comedy, Drama
- Rating: TV-14
- Release Date: November 25, 2016
- Cast: Lauren Graham, Alexis Bledel, Scott Patterson
- Language: English
- Runtime: 2 min
If you can believe it, the 10th anniversary of Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life is coming up. Not the main show’s ending, which was nearly 20 years ago, but the four-part miniseries. Alongside that anniversary, Netflix stands to lose both the miniseries and the original show, which consists of all seven seasons and has been streaming since at least October 2014.
Released on November 25, 2016, each episode of the revival was set during a different season of the year, picking up the story of Stars Hollow and its beloved residents years after the original finale. Many fans still hold out hope for another revival or continuation, but despite constant rumors, nothing has ever materialized. We did, however, get some good news over the summer with confirmation that a documentary is on the way—though it’s not quite what many fans were hoping for.
The main show, along with the Netflix Original miniseries, continues to attract millions of viewers each year (over 200 million between 2023 and mid-2025), suggesting there’s a strong likelihood Netflix will try to renew its license, unless Warner Bros. Television has other plans.
The Last Kingdom
- Genre: Action, Drama, History
- Rating: TV-MA
- Release Date: March 9, 2022
- Cast: Eliza Butterworth, Alexander Dreymon, Arnas Fedaravicius
- Language: English
- Runtime: 60 min
Another British show that may be among those pulled from the streamer in 2026 is The Last Kingdom, a show Netflix co-distributed with the BBC for its initial two seasons before taking over full reigns from 2018 through 2022 for seasons 3 through 5. The historical epic brings to life the novels by Bernard Cornwell with Alexander Dreymon playing the lead role of Uhtred of Bebbanburg.
This date does not apply to the follow-up movie: The Last Kingdom: Seven Kings Must Die, which won’t be leaving until the 2030s. Will the main show now get an extension to be on par with the movie or beyond? We’ll have to wait and see…
We’ll have a full preview with advanced notice on all the Netflix Originals we know to be leaving throughout 2026 in the coming months. Until then, which of these series will you be disappointed to see leave Netflix in 2026? Let us know in the comments.
