The clock is ticking on one of the most intense crime series currently streaming. Animal Kingdom is officially set to depart Netflix in the United States, concluding a strict one-year licensing window on June 1st, 2026, but other regions will be keeping hold of it for a while longer.
For those who haven’t yet embarked on this thrilling binge, Animal Kingdom is a gripping TV-MA drama that centers around a notoriously dangerous Southern California crime family. Based on the acclaimed Australian film of the same name, the series kicks off with a tragic catalyst. The official synopsis reads:
“When his mother dies, Joshua ‘J’ Cody moves to his estranged grandmother’s seaside house, where he becomes entangled in the family’s life of crime.”
All six seasons of the hit TNT show—totaling a hefty 75 episodes—were surprisingly added to Netflix US on June 1st, 2025. Now, exactly one year later, the Cody family is packing up and moving out. Removal notices are beginning to populate on the Netflix platform for US subscribers, indicating that your last full day to watch will be May 31st, 2026, with the show officially expiring on June 1st, 2026.
This exact one-year window has become an increasingly common trend for licensed titles as studios experiment with shorter, co-exclusive secondary windows to boost visibility. That’s not quite the case here, however. Despite the underlying rights being with Warner Bros. Television, the series isn’t available on HBO Max but is currently streaming on Prime Video.
What makes this strict one-year removal particularly surprising is just how incredibly well the series performed during its time on the platform. According to Netflix’s official global engagement data for 2025, Animal Kingdom was an absolute binge-watching juggernaut. Across all six seasons, the show racked up a staggering 277.9 million hours viewed in 2025 alone, equating to roughly 28.8 million total views. Even more impressive is the show’s remarkable retention rate. While Season 1 pulled in 6 million completed equivalent views, the sixth and final season held strong with 4.4 million views. This data proves that once subscribers got sucked into the Cody family’s criminal enterprise, the vast majority strapped in for the entire 75-episode ride.

What about Animal Kingdom in other Netflix regions?
While the June 1st removal date currently only applies to the US library, international subscribers shouldn’t get too comfortable.
Animal Kingdom recently made its way to dozens of global Netflix regions—including the UK, Argentina, France, Germany, India, Mexico, and South Korea—between February and March 2026.
Given the exact one-year licensing window we are witnessing in the US, it is highly expected that Animal Kingdom will also depart these international regions exactly one year after being added. If that pattern holds, expect to see the series leave most international libraries in February and March 2027.
