In a massive win for K-content fans, Netflix has swooped in at the eleventh hour to bag the streaming rights to the brand-new South Korean action-spy thriller, Humint. Coming to Netflix globally this March, right at the end of the month, here is everything you need to know about the movie.

Humint is a 2026 South Korean espionage action movie written and directed by Ryoo Seung-wan. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because he is the acclaimed filmmaker behind massive blockbusters like Escape from Mogadishu, The Berlin File, and Smugglers. Produced by Filmmaker R&K and distributed theatrically by Next Entertainment World, the movie just had its domestic theatrical run in February 2026 and is already making its way to our watchlists via Netflix elsewhere.

Here is everything you need to know about Humint on Netflix:

When is the Humint Netflix release date?

In a surprise, last-minute acquisition, Netflix has officially picked up the exclusive streaming rights to the spy thriller. Humint will be available to stream on Netflix globally (there may be minor restrictions, although we found it coming in all major English-speaking regions) starting Tuesday, March 31st, 2026.

What is the plot of Humint?

The title Humint is a real-world spy term referring to “human intelligence” (information gathered directly from human sources rather than technical surveillance). The movie notably serves as the final installment in director Ryoo Seung-wan’s unofficial “Overseas Location” trilogy, which also includes 2013’s The Berlin File and 2021’s Escape from Mogadishu

Here is the synopsis for the movie:

“In Vladivostok, Russia, South Korean National Intelligence Service Manager Zo is assigned to track an international crime syndicate operating near the border. His investigation collides with Park Geon, a North Korean State Security official sent to investigate a recent security breach. The situation is complicated by Hwang Chi-seong, the North Korean consul general, whose personal interests conflict with his official mission. At the center of this intelligence war is Chae Seon-hwa, a worker at a North Korean restaurant. As agents from both sides attempt to secure her as a human intelligence source, she is forced into a position of high risk.”

Who are the cast members of Humint?

If you’re a fan of Korean cinema, this cast list is going to get you very excited. The project reunites director Ryoo Seung-wan with Zo In-sung and Park Jeong-min, who both previously starred in his 2023 box-office smash hit Smugglers.
