Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew has been in production for several weeks now, and this weekend, the production traveled to a brand new location: Bradford, following extensive filming in Manchester and London.
Reporting surfaced on Friday that Bradford, located just Northwest of Leeds, had been prepared for upcoming filming with Little Germany, an area known for its imposing warehouses and Lister Mills, a large silk factory, used as backdrops. Reports added:
“In Little Germany, people can see old, brick walls – which look as if they’re in ruins – and two vintage red buses parked in a nearby car park.

Filming is expected to take place on Cater Street, Currer Street, and Bolton Road/Stott Hill.”
On August 30th, production had geared up with the BBC reporting that Manningham was also being used for shots, writing, “This week film crews brought horses being used in the shoot to Fairfield Road and Farcliffe Terrace, two residential streets in the Victorian suburb of Manningham.”
It was a busy weekend for Greta Gerwig, who flew to the Venice Film Festival in support of the world premiere of Jay Kelly, the new film directed by Noah Baumbach, which is set to stream on Netflix this December.
This isn’t the first look we’ve had at the costume for Jadis; numerous snaps have been surfacing online over the past few weeks since filming began. All of them have been stunt doubles rather than Emma Mackey herself, who will be playing the White Witch and also serving as a stunt double for Digory, who is played by David McKenna.
It must be noted that Jadis’s costume has been the subject of intense online debate so far, with many being unhappy with its pop-star-esque aesthetic. Of course, that’s part of a wider criticism after it was revealed that The Magician’s Nephew is being set in the 1950s (specifically 1955), with the original book set during the Victorian era. Many believe that the original time period is essential for the story and its themes, not to mention the knock-on impacts of later stories, such as The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

New supporting cast members for Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew
We’ve also been searching far and wide for any new cast members for the new movie, and last week, we reported that Tom Bonington had been cast in the role of Mr. Potts. Our understanding is that the role is relatively minor, although Netflix did not respond to a request for comment.
Who else is going to be featured in supporting (extra) roles then? We’ve spotted that Vincent Kelly is attached, David Stoller will feature as a medic, and Molly Harding as a “Kensington Street Child,” with the production name there being Ordinary Time, the codename we reported on last week.
