Filming for Netflix’s Narnia movie has officially started in London, England. Although the streamer hasn’t announced any members of the cast, thanks to new set photos, we have been able to identify the two young leads of the upcoming Greta Gerwig movie.

From these set photos, we have identified David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell as two of the leads of Netflix’s NarniaIt’s speculated they’re playing the lead roles of Digory Kirke and Polly Plummer, respectively. Those are the two main young characters for The Magician’s Nephew. Netflix has not confirmed this and declined to comment for this article. Casting calls for the roles were issued earlier this year.

David McKenna’s credits include BBC’s Lord of the Flies and numerous musicals, while Beatrice Campbell’s credits include The Stolen Girl and The Phoenician’s Scheme

Here’s more snaps of the two in action on the first day of filming, captured yesterday, including a couple that we’ve yet to release:

Other cast for Netflix’s Narnia includes Emma Mackey as The White Witch, Daniel Craig (as we first reported) as Uncle Andrew, Carey Mulligan in negotiations for a role, and Meryl Streep expected in the role of Aslan. Netflix has yet to confirm or announce any cast names.

Filming for Narnia is expected to take place in the South and East of the UK, as well as Shepperton Studios, as their home base. The movie is currently expected to be released in late 2026, with Greta Gerwig securing the rights for movie theater screenings (at least in IMAX) before the release, a privilege not granted to all. The most recent example of that was Rian Johnson’s Knives Out 2 and very limited runs for movies Netflix looks to qualify for awards.

We’ll keep you posted on all things Narnia as and when we get new updates. Until then, refer to our guide on everything we know about the latest production through our monster guide that looks back at Netflix’s entire history of Narnia and what’s to come.

Susannah Norris Agency represents McKenna, and Sylvia Young Agency represents Campbell.
