Netflix’s ongoing sports docuseries UNTOLD is heading to the UK to pull back the curtain on epic events and personalities in the world of football, featuring three series covering Liverpool’s legendary Champions League victory, the story of unlikely Premier League winner Jamie Vardy, and football’s most feared player, Vinnie Jones.
Netflix’s sports anthology series UNTOLD has already released some series throughout 2026, including stories about Lamar Odom, the Portland ‘Jail Blazers,’ and a chess cheating scandal. Now, the series is heading across the pond to the United Kingdom, where it will cover three incredible, inspiring, and even controversial stories from the world of football.
UNTOLD UK tells 3 standalone stories told across 3 weeks. Beginning in May 2026, they’re all well-timed for the arrival of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

UNTOLD UK: JAMIE VARDY
Coming to Netflix: May 12th
UNTOLD UK kicks off by chronicling the story of Jamie Vardy, who went from lower league footballer to esteemed Premier League champion in the space of just a few years. Born in Sheffield, Vardy was a top footballer in the English lower leagues, proving to be an exceptional goal-scorer for Stocksbridge, Halifax Town and Fleetwood Town. At age 24, he finally got his big move to Championship side Leicester City for €1.3M, which was the record fee for a player outside of the Football League.
Vardy was an instant fan-favorite at Leicester, regarded for his lightning pace and tidy finishing. He led Leicester to Premier League promotion. But then, in 2015, he was part of the starting line-up under Claudio Ranieri that won the Premier League. It was an unprecedented achievement, with odds at 5,000–1.
Jamie Vardy went on to become a big media personality alongside his wife Rebekah Vardy. His wife Rebekah would spark major controversy as a result of the ‘Wagatha Christie’ scandal.
This series features those closest to the action, including Rebekah Vardy, Nigel Pearson (Leicester Manager), Wes Morgan (Leicester Teammate), Marc Albrighton (Leicester Teammate), Andy King (Leicester Teammate, John Morris (Jamie Vardy’s Agent), Brett Lovell (Stocksbridge Teammate), Dave Rennie (Leicester Head Physio) and Rob Tanner (Leicester Football Journalist).
UNTOLD UK: LIVERPOOL’S MIRACLE OF ISTANBUL
Coming to Netflix: May 19th
This story is by far the most documented of the trio. It chronicles Liverpool’s mighty comeback against AC Milan in the 2005 Champions League Final in Istanbul. The Reds were 3-0 down at half time and seemingly down and out. However, when they stepped out in the second half, led by captain Steven Gerrard, something shifted. They quickly pulled one goal back, and suddenly a comeback was on. They ended up taking Milan the full distance, winning the final on a penalty shootout.
All in all, the ‘Miracle of Istanbul’ is one of the most talked-about events in football history. There’s already been dozens of documentaries covering it, as well as fictional movies based on the event, such as Will (2011) and Fifteen Minutes That Shook the World (2009).
Directed by Matthew Rudge, Netflix cites this as the ‘definitive story’ of the event, featuring those involved, including Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard, Michael Owen, Rafa Benitez, Xabi Alonso, Didi Hamman, and more.
UNTOLD UK: VINNIE JONES
Coming to Netflix: May 26th
Back in the ’80s and ’90s, if there was one footballer you didn’t want to face, it was Vinnie Jones. He remains one of the hardest and move physically imposing footballers that the English league has ever seen. When a controversial 1992 video exposed the brutal tactics of his ‘Crazy Gang’ days, it ignited a media firestorm that threatened to end his career, right in the midst of the switch from the old Division One to the Premier League.
Fuelled by his fierce personality and fiery footballing style, Vinnie Jones later made the switch from football to Hollywood. His acting career is particularly esteemed, appearing in projects alongside Brad Pitt and Stephen Graham. He became typecast as the ‘hard guy’ in the industry. Some of his most notable projects include Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1998), Snatch (2000), and Mean Machine (2001).
The series features a number of famous faces. Outside of Vinnie Jones himself, it also includes appearances from John Fashanu, Dave Bassett, Bobby Gould, Sam Hammam, and Piers Morgan.
