Netflix is set to pick up the Hulu Original series Solar Opposites ahead of its final season, which is scheduled to drop later this year. News has just come in that multiple seasons are set to arrive on the streamer in the United States starting Sunday, September 28, 2025.
Update 09/24: Mike McMahan has confirmed on X that all five seasons (plus the holiday specials) are Netflix-bound. Furthermore, we can report that select international territories will also be carrying the show.

First debuting in May 2020, Solar Opposites is an adult animated sitcom with a sci-fi twist from Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland and writer Mike McMahan. The series follows four aliens who escape their exploding home world and crash-land in a perfectly ordinary suburban house in America.
The group is split on whether Earth is awful or awesome. Korvo (Justin Roiland) and Yumyulack (Sean Giambroni) are appalled by pollution, consumerism, and human weakness, while Terry (Thomas Middleditch) and Jesse (Mary Mack) embrace everything from TV to junk food. Their shared mission is to protect the Pupa, a living supercomputer destined to evolve, devour them, and terraform the planet.
The voice cast includes Roiland (later replaced by Dan Stevens), Thomas Middleditch, Sean Giambrone, and Mary Mack.
What we don’t know just yet is how many seasons are heading to Netflix; we know it’ll be at least two, given the label that’s currently displaying on the title, but we suspect it’ll either be three or four. We’ll update this post once the title drops and keep you posted on how long it’ll stream on Netflix once we get word.
We also only know that the series is currently due to release on Netflix in the United States – other regions’ availability will vary, and we couldn’t immediately find other regions set to pick up the show.
This isn’t the first time Netflix has licensed a Hulu Original, but it’s often been for international pickups or long after they’ve concluded airing, with the underlying rights being owned by a company other than Disney. Some examples include Casual, The Mindy Project, and Find Me In Paris.
That’s not the case with Solar Opposites, given that 20th Television owns the rights, which is a subsidiary of Disney. As we’ve seen increasingly in recent years, many networks, and now streamers, are leveraging Netflix’s vast reach in the hopes of drumming up interest ahead of a new season airing.
Season 6, which will be the series’s last, is due to air on Hulu on October 13th, 2025. All seasons will stream on Hulu in addition to their Netflix release.
