After months of delays, Wednesday is currently gearing up for production on its highly anticipated second season. After reports came out late last year that the show is moving to Ireland, a few new casting calls have confirmed whether the show will be filming and how long it’ll be filming for.
This new round of casting is primarily for background actors from all the calls issued thus far. As we’ve covered previously, Netflix and MGM Television have already been casting some of the new season regulars. Back in early December, we learned about three new characters: Karloff, Wolfgang, and Annie. In January 2024, we learned they were recruiting for a theater music teacher and a new character called Bruno.
According to the listings, filming will take place in the Eastern county of Wicklow. The same location was recently used for MGM’s other Netflix series, Vikings: Valhalla.
So, let’s cover the casting calls issued via Celtic Casting on social media over the past few days and weeks.
The main post (see embedded below) is looking for “adults & teenagers of all diversities and ethnicities with excellent general availability between the end of April and November. They state they’re also on the hunt with anyone with unique looks, quirky styles, and edgy traits. In addition, they are also looking for twins and triplets.
A subsequent casting call is looking for 18-21 year olds, and the latest casting call is looking for ethnically diverse 13-22 year olds.
On Facebook, they refer to the show as “NERO”.

If you fit these descriptions and are a resident of Ireland, you’re encouraged to set up a profile on the Celtic Casting website. The agency has previously worked on shows like The Tourist and Cocaine Bear. These are paid background actor roles.
Filming won’t wrap up on Wednesday season 2 until November 2024
These additional casting calls confirm our previous reporting that season 2 won’t be wrapped up until November 2024. It’s already been confirmed that the new season won’t be on our screens in 2024, and given the long production period, we’re not expecting the show to be back until Spring 2025 at the absolute earliest and possibly even longer.
