Christmas Great British Baking Show Special 2025

Picture: Channel 4

It’s become an annual tradition that Netflix licenses the festival specials that air on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom a year prior. If that’s the case, then we’re in store for two specials for the 2024/25 season, which include the Christmas and New Year’s specials. Featuring your favorite presenters, the synopsis reads, “Grab a dram, as Scottish bakers from across the years celebrate Hogmanay in the tent. Whose Technical will fall short? And whose cranachan will see them crowned as first star baker of 2025?”

Looking further ahead, here’s what’s in the development pipeline for 2026 and beyond!

  • South Pole Santa – Acquired in September 2025, this spec-script comes from Chris Bruno and David Lee, with Colin Jost producing. Plot details unavailable.
  • In A Holidaze – Tiffany Paulsen is currently adapting this novel by Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings, and as we just recently reported, it’s eying an early 2026 shoot in Vancouver. The plot centers on Maelyn Jones, who, stuck in a dead-end job and reeling from a romantic mistake, wishes for happiness during a Christmas trip to her family’s snowy Utah cabin, only to find herself trapped in a holiday time loop in this adaptation of Christina Lauren’s novel.
  • Quartermaster – Marc Platt and Adam Siegel were announced to be working on this high-concept thriller set during Christmas time with Drew Peace directing.
