Fans of Emily in Paris won’t have to wait long for their next French getaway! Following the dramatic Season 5 finale this past December and quick renewal in January, the future of the hit series has been a hot topic. Now, in a sweeping new interview detailing Netflix France’s upcoming 2026 slate, Pauline Dauvin, Netflix’s Vice President of French Content, dropped a major tidbit regarding the production of the highly anticipated sixth season and a new (albeit completely expected) release window.
In the interview with Ouest France, many subjects came up, primarily about the French slate of upcoming titles, but when asked specifically about the status of Emily in Paris season 6, Dauvin confirmed that cameras are gearing up to roll very soon.
Prior production listings had pointed to an April 2026 start date, while other industry trackers noted the approximate shoot dates would run from “early Q2 2026 to late Q2 2026.” Dauvin’s latest update narrows down the official window:
- Filming: Production for the sixth season will take place at the “end of spring.” This means sometime between May and June.
- Release Date: The new episodes are slated for broadcast at the end of the year. During Next on Netflix 2026, the streamer only provided a broad 2026 return.
This rapid turnaround means we should be seeing Emily return to our screens in late 2026. The series is also continuing to invest heavily in its lavish aesthetic, with reported production budgets of $3-$5 million per episode.
Where did we leave off, and what is Season 6 about?
Season 5 ended with a massive reset for our favorite American in Paris. After a temporary move to Rome, Emily returned to the French capital, having ended her relationship with Italian fashion heir Marcello Muratori when he expected her to move to Solitano. Meanwhile, Gabriel has been working as a private chef on a yacht but ends the season sending Emily a postcard from Greece, inviting her to join him.
While an official, detailed synopsis for Season 6 hasn’t been released, recent interviews with the cast and creators paint a clear picture of where we’re headed. Series creator Darren Star recently teased that Emily is firmly planting her roots. “She really chooses her own life in Paris and her work,” Star revealed to The Hollywood Reporter, adding that her heart is in Paris and it’s “not a temporary thing.”
As for her love life, Lily Collins noted that Emily is entering Season 6 with a new sense of peace. “Emily is cool. She is fine,” Collins shared with Deadline, explaining that her character is actually more concerned with the new chaotic work dynamics at Agence Grateau—especially with Princess Jane stepping in as a co-boss to save the agency from financial ruin—than she is with her romantic entanglements. However, regarding a potential reunion with Gabriel in Greece, Star hinted, “I don’t think it’ll be an instant relationship, though I do believe that people can find their way back to each other.”
We also can’t forget Mindy! Despite accepting Nico’s proposal in Venice, her lingering connection with Alfie promises plenty of unresolved tension heading into the new season.
The Undeniable “Emily” Effect
Beyond the release news, the Netflix France VP also highlighted the show’s incredible cultural and economic influence. While discussing Netflix’s impact in French territories, Dauvin shared a statistic about the show’s influence on international travel. According to a study conducted by the National Center for Cinema and the Moving Image (CNC), an impressive 38% of foreign tourists visiting the French capital state that Emily in Paris is one of the reasons they decided to come.
While the series has occasionally faced criticism for presenting a somewhat clichéd or stereotypical version of Paris, Dauvin defended the platform’s creative approach. “Our main driving force remains the story being told,” Dauvin explained. “We are not here to give a negative or positive image of a territory, but to tell powerful stories that resonate with the public”.
Elsewhere, in Darren Star news, Netflix has just ordered a new series from him called Uncorked.
