Uncorked is a brand-new romantic comedy series from Sex and the City and Emily in Paris creator Darren Star, who will serve as an executive producer and as a writer and co-showrunner alongside New Amsterdam’s David Schulner. Star and Schulner are joined by fellow executive producers Tony Hernandez (Free Bert) and Lilly Burns (Emily in Paris) through their banner Counterpart.
Netflix has confirmed that Uncorked won’t affect Darren Star’s role as showrunner and executive producer on his smash hit series Emily in Paris, which has been renewed for a sixth season and will begin filming in Q2 2026.

Darren Star shared a statement with Netflix:
“Seeing audiences around the world fall in love with Emily in Paris has been a dream. As Emily’s story continues to inspire and unfold, I’m excited to continue my relationship with Netflix and explore a new world with Uncorked. We’re diving straight into the legacy and romance of Napa Valley, where every great vintage has a unique story to tell.”
Co-showrunner and executive producer David Schulner also added:
“Darren and I wanted to create a series that explores what happens when your greatest passion is also your Achilles’ heel. With Napa’s beauty and bounty as our setting, we hope the audience never wants to leave. We want to thank Netflix and Universal Television for indulging our copious amounts of day drinking in the name of meticulous research.”
What is the plot of Uncorked?
Netflix has provided a synopsis for Uncorked:
“Uncorked delves into the life of a talented but self-destructive winemaker who returns to Napa for her second chance at love, legacy and that elusive 100-point wine. Not that she’s constantly refreshing WineSpectator.com or anything. This is a woman whose greatest passion is also her fatal flaw — a failing that usually begins before lunch on Tuesday.”
Who are the cast members of Uncorked?
At this time, there are no confirmed cast members.
We’d expect to hear a cast announcement around the time the series enters pre-production.
What is the production status of Uncorked?
The project was announced only recently, so it’s still in the early days of active development. It could be months before we receive a significant update on the series’ production.
When will Uncorked be released on Netflix?
Given the series is so early in development, it’s tough to predict when it will be released on Netflix.
At this time, all we can do is provide a broad, speculative release window, which we expect to see the series released on Netflix sometime in 2027 or 2028.
