Netflix’s hit series Heartstopper is coming to an end after three seasons and a feature film. The series, which began in 2022, is scheduled to conclude in 2026. On that front, we have two interesting pieces of information! Filming has wrapped and we’ve got the official title.
First things first, filming for the Heartstopper movie has officially wrapped after 34 days of filming. Production took place from June to late July 2025 in the UK. Filming has been taking under the place under the codename SUNBEAM and was originally scheduled to wrap a little bit later than now with a tentative wrap set originally for August 9th.
Both Kit Connor and Joe Locke posted on their social media about the wrap:

Next up, we have another piece of news: we’ve learned from multiple sources that the upcoming Heartstopper movie will be called Heartstopper: Forever.
One of those sources includes a wrap gift given to the cast and crew from Netflix. These are Vans shoes with the Heartstopper: Forever logo on them. As we said, we heard that title before from other sources, but the logo and newly released clapperboard seal it.

As filming has wrapped just now, we can safely assume that Heartstopper: Forever will be released sometime in 2026. Netflix hasn’t provided any exact release windows, but an official announcement should come soon.
What’s the story of Heartstopper: Forever?

The story of Heartstopper: Forever expectedly picks up after Season 4, and Netflix provided a synopsis for it:
“Nick and Charlie are inseparable, but with Nick preparing to leave for university and Charlie finding new independence at school, the reality of a long-distance relationship begins to weigh on them. Doubts take hold, and their relationship faces its biggest challenge yet. Meanwhile, their friends are also navigating the ups and downs of love and friendship, confronting the bittersweet challenges of growing up and moving on. Can first loves really last forever?”
Previously, Joe Locke, who plays Charlie Spring, shared his thoughts on why the story will conclude with a film instead of a fourth season:
“I think the time it would’ve taken to film a series, we just wouldn’t have been able to get everyone in the same place for five years. Then by that time, there would be no need for it. So, we realized that the only way to get it made this year is if we do a film because it’s less time commitment, and well, we can still put in a lot of the same love and care into the characters, into finishing off the story.
It makes it feel more cinematic, more grand, and gives it the ending it deserves, which I am really excited to start shooting. And the script is great.”
Who is cast in Heartstopper: Forever?
Heartstopper: Forever will bring back the core ensemble from the series, although a finalized official cast list has yet to be released. We obviously know Kit Connor will be back as Nick Nelson and Joe Locke as Charlie Spring, with the pair also serving as executive producers this time around. Yasmin Finney returns as Elle Argent, while William Gao reprises his role as Tao Xu. Jenny Walser is back as Charlie’s sister, Tori Spring, with Corinna Brown and Kizzy Edgell returning as Tara Jones and Darcy Olsson. Tobie Donovan once again plays Isaac Henderson, and Cormac Hyde‑Corrin returns as Harry Greene. Rhea Norwood will reprise her role as Imogen Heaney, and Nima Taleghani is also confirmed to return as Truham teacher Mr Farouk.
With the upcoming movie, the Heartstopper podcast is coming back too, as Netflix UK & Ireland announced a few days ago. They wrote on Twitter/X: “Guess what? The Heartstopper podcast is officially coming back alongside the movie. This time, we wanna get the real ~real~ tea from our cast. What have you always wanted to ask them?”
Finally, in Heartstopper news (we suspect this week will bring more official announcements), we received the latest Netflix Engagement Report, which suggests the show garnered an additional 4.5 million views in the first half of 2025. That brings the total views of the show between 2023 and 2025 (first half) to 57.1 million views.
We’ll no doubt get a lot more Heartstopper intel throughout the next few days, weeks and months and we’ll keep you posted.
