If you’re craving more jello salad, big hair, and Southern charm, you’re in luck. Following a monster debut in the summer of 2025, Netflix quickly handed a season 2 renewal to the Chuck Lorre and Leanne Morgan multi-cam sitcom Leanne. Here’s our complete, exhaustive guide to everything we know so far about the upcoming second season, including the now-confirmed release date and all the first looks.

Debuting in July 2025, Leanne quickly became one of Netflix’s biggest comedy swings of the year. Co-created by comedy legend Chuck Lorre, Leanne Morgan, and showrunner Susan McMartin, the series focuses on a demographic television often overlooks and scored massive numbers, racking up an impressive 1.34 billion viewing minutes in its first two weeks in the US (according to Nielsen). According to Netflix’s Engagement numbers, the series picked up 66.8M hours watched throughout the second half of 2026, which equates to 12M views.

The series is also Emmy-nominated, with the series picking up two nominations: Outstanding Production Design For A Narrative Program and Outstanding Picture Editing For A Multi-Camera Comedy Series.

With production now officially wrapped, here is your comprehensive preview for Leanne Season 2, including episode titles, cast updates, the official release date, and what the creators have been saying.

What is the production status of Leanne Season 2?

Because Leanne is a traditional multi-camera sitcom filmed in front of a live studio audience, production moves incredibly fast.
Filming for Season 2 officially kicked off in mid-January 2026 at the Warner Bros. Studios lot in Burbank, California. Star Leanne Morgan confirmed the return to set via social media on January 14th with a heartfelt post:

“It’s a family reunion!! 🥰 I am SO thrilled to be back on set in LA filming SEASON 2 of ‘LEANNE’!! Y’all made this happen and I can’t wait to share it with you!! ❤️ @netflix @NetflixIsAJoke”

Fans were able to snag free tickets via 1iota to attend the live tapings, which ran through the late winter. We can confirm that the cast and crew celebrated the official wrap of Season 2 production over the weekend following the finale taping on April 10, 2026.

Kristen Johnston, posting from the wrap party, wrote, “That’s a wrap on season 2 of Leanne! Can’t wait for you guys to see the sweet insanity we’ve cooked up for you. I really think you’re gonna love it. An escape we all need. Coming this summer on Netflix!”

When will Leanne Season 2 be on Netflix?

Netflix has officially circled a date on the calendar! Season 2 of Leanne will premiere globally on August 27, 2026. This mirrors the highly successful summer release strategy of Season 1, which dropped in late July of 2025.

How many episodes will be in Leanne Season 2? (Plus Episode Titles!)

There was quite a bit of mystery surrounding the exact episode count earlier this year. While Season 1 received a massive, old-school 16-episode order, Netflix poured cold water on early rumors that Season 2 would be heavily reduced to just eight episodes.

We now know for a fact that Season 2 will feature at least 10 episodes. We’ve also managed to track down the episode titles for the upcoming season. Here they are (listed in alphabetical order):

  • A Prison of Love
  • An Enhancement…Or Two
  • Bang Me
  • Big Hammer Energy
  • Fit as a Fiddle
  • Have A Rocky Top Day
  • Pickles Are Forever
  • The Big Hm-Hm
  • The Old Cat Had Her Reasons
  • Three Degrees of Southern Women

The writers’ room for season 2 features a tight-knit core team mixing and matching story and teleplay duties across the episodes. Series co-creator Chuck Lorre naturally kicks things off by co-writing the story for the season premiere alongside Nick Bakay, while Mark Gross and Julie Bean penned the teleplay. Throughout the rest of the season, the heavy lifting is handled by a rotating combination of Bakay, Gross, Bean, Amy Hubbs, and John Jack O’Brien. As the season progresses, the core group is also joined by Kelly Farrell (who steps in for episodes 6 and 9) and Alexandra Melnick (who co-writes the teleplay for episode 7).

Season 2 is bringing some massive star power to the screen. Netflix has officially confirmed a stacked roster of new guest stars, including country music superstar Lainey Wilson, Jaime Pressly, and Billy Gardell (a familiar face in the Chuck Lorre TV universe).

They will also be joined by Emmy-winner Tyne Daly. Fun fact: Tyne is the real-life sister of Tim Daly, who plays Leanne’s love interest, Andrew!

Other unconfirmed guest names floating around from IMDb include Jimmy Walker Jr., Todd Giebenhain, Kristen O’Meara, Dale E. Turner, and Alex Alcheh.

What the cast and crew are saying about Season 2

The team behind the show has been incredibly vocal about their gratitude for the series’ breakout success.

When the renewal was officially announced, Leanne Morgan shared her gratitude for the opportunity:

“We’re coming back for a second season! I am so grateful to all the writers, producers, Netflix, WB, our amazing cast, and especially for all the fans of the show. Y’all did this for us, and we can’t wait to be back!”

Co-creator Chuck Lorre has been equally effusive in his praise for both his leading lady and the streamer:

“Much thanks and gratitude to Netflix for this amazing opportunity. Congrats to Leanne and the entire cast and crew. This has been an incredible journey that began with a visit to Knoxville, Tennessee. Leanne Morgan is the whole package. A comedic genius, a warm, loving human being, and an absolute joy to work with.”

We previously sat down with star Hannah Pilkes (who plays Josie) to talk about the magic of filming Season 1. When asked about her hopes for Season 2, she noted how much she’s learned from comedy legends like Kristen Johnston and Celia Weston, and added: “Everybody is VERY funny.. you’ll have to ask Netflix about a season 2, but I’m crossing my fingers and my toes!!”. Luckily, those crossed fingers paid off!
