As the movie is set to hit Netflix globally on September 10th, it has been six years since we last saw the former crew of Paris-based agency ASK. A lot had happened as the show was ending; for viewers needing a refresher course, here is a bit of context on where we left the main cast.
The reunion movie that is hitting Netflix globally next month was uncertain for years, as many of its actors have become in-demand stars in movies (and, in certain cases, directors like Nicolas Maury), but all of the main cast is slated to return for the reunion movie, which will also serve as an end to their respective stories. But the series finale had them toasting to their respective uncertain futures; where exactly did we leave the former employees of top Paris talent agency ASK?
Andréa Martel (Camille Cottin)
Faced with a choice of leaving her biggest client in the hands of Starmédia (Jean Reno) and backed into a corner by Élise, Andréa just decided to quit agent work altogether as agency ASK was going bankrupt. In the final sequence, characters were pushing her to know what was next; she declared she wanted time to reconquer her estranged wife Colette (Ophelia Kolb) and take care of their daughter Flora; that latter part has proved to be challenging throughout Season 4. As for her professional options, she offered “to write a TV show about agents” in a very meta callback; as is now revealed, the new movie will see her trying to salvage her own movie as director.
Mathias Barneville (Thibault de Montalembert)

The big arc for Mathias in the final season was redemption, as he suffered a heart attack after thwarting Camille’s plans to get adaptation rights from a famous writer and using Noémie in the process. When he woke up, after spending a few days in the hospital, Noémie wanted him to rest a bit, but Igor showed up to his room ready to take him to a business meeting with director Jean-Jacques Annaud. Mathias, encouraged by a furious Noémie, decided to leave production company Mediawan and become an independent producer, with his project Bastille, by Xavier Beauvois, proposed to ASK in the series finale. When the agency could not be saved anyway, Mathias offered to work for his daughter Camille and vowed to “work differently,” leaving behind years of tricks and manipulations. He became a partner in Camille’s agency CAM, to be founded after the finale.
Gabriel Sarda (Grégory Montel)
Gabriel’s trajectory was one of the more chaotic of the series. His relationship with his new girlfriend was threatened once he reconnected with ex Sofia (Stéfi Celma); he was also very wary of the arrival of cutthroat Élise in the ASK fold. Eventually, he had to make a choice: Sofia got cast in a big François Ozon movie, but Élise pulled strings to hold up her official participation, as Ozon is a Starmédia client. In order to untangle the situation, Gabriel accepted her offer to join Starmédia… and rekindled his relationship with Sofia in the process. In the end, he vowed to remain loyal to his former coworkers and friends even in the big Starmédia fold; he was also making travel plans with Sofia after the closure of ASK.
Arlette Azémar (Liliane Rovère)
Arlette, the veteran and wise agent of ASK, was involved in one of the most emotional sequences of the finale, when her dog Jean Gabin unexpectedly died in the agency’s offices. She eventually returned for the final sequence and agreed on the spot to be a partner in the new agency started by Camille, CAM (which will also bear her name, A standing for Arlette).
Hervé André-Jezack (Nicolas Maury)
The most reliable character for punchlines and laugh-out-loud moments, Hervé found his way into the spotlight once he was unexpectedly cast in a Valérie Donzelli movie, as he also was increasing his portfolio of young talents. In the finale, he made the decision to start acting full-time.
Camille Valentini (Fanny Sidney)
Camille, it can be argued, had a series-long arc to becoming a professional agent in the shadow of Andréa. As she made amends again with her father, she took advantage of the incoming end of ASK to announce she was starting her own agency, with two senior hires in Arlette and Mathias. The movie is expected to follow up on that new adventure.
Noémie Leclerc (Laure Calamy)
Cr: Christophe Brachet
One of the main red herrings of the final season was the evolving professional and personal relationship of Mathias and Noémie, with the latter making a name for herself within the ranks of Mediawan. As the finale ended, she played an active role in trying to fund the Xavier Beauvois movie with Jean Reno and took a liking to the job of independent producer, a step up from the “development executive” she was hired for at Mediawan.
Finally, Anne Marivin is expected to reprise her role as Élise in the movie; in the finale, she successfully caused ASK to shut down and hired Gabriel in order to ensure Sofia would lock in a key role in a François Ozon movie.
