Heartland is officially galloping into historic territory. As the longest-running one-hour scripted drama in Canadian television history, the beloved Bartlett-Fleming family is returning for a massive milestone 20th season. But when will the new episodes of Heartland make their way to Netflix? Here is everything we know about Season 20 and when you can expect it to drop in your region.

For Netflix US subscribers, the wait for the show’s latest episodes just ended, as Season 19 finally touched down on the platform on September 1st, 2026. However, as die-hard fans know, the story is already moving forward up north.

Because Heartland is a licensed series rather than a global Netflix Original, its distribution varies wildly depending on where you live. Let’s break down the production timeline, what to expect from the story, and our current expectations as to when Season 20 will be streaming on Netflix.

What is the status of Heartland Season 20? When does it premiere on CBC?

The good news? The wait for Season 20 is almost over for Canadian viewers.

Production for the 20th season officially took place in Calgary, Alberta, running from May 12th through August 30th, 2026. The cast and crew recently celebrated wrapping up the historic season, which even included special “Fan Extras Days” in August where lucky viewers got to appear in the background of Episode 7.

With filming now complete, Season 20 is scheduled to premiere in Canada on CBC and CBC Gem on Sunday, October 4th, 2026.

What to expect from Heartland Season 20 (and is it the final season?)

Warning: Spoilers for the end of Season 19 below!

Season 20 is shaping up to be one of the most emotional installments in the show’s nearly two-decade run. The Season 19 finale left fans with a massive cliffhanger: Nathan Pryce’s unexpected marriage proposal to Amy. Will Amy take a leap of faith into a new chapter of her life, or will her deep roots and Ty’s lingering legacy keep her anchored to her current path?

Beyond Amy’s massive decision, the new season is also expected to address Georgie’s life-changing decision regarding Austria, and the shifting dynamics between Lou and Jack as they attempt to secure the future of the ranch. Familiar faces like Amber Marshall, Shaun Johnston, Michelle Morgan, and Kerry James are all returning.

Adding to the drama is a heavy, unconfirmed rumor currently sweeping the fandom: Could Season 20 be the final season of Heartland? While neither CBC nor the production team has officially announced that the series is ending, the massive milestone and the nature of the upcoming storylines have many viewers speculating that the show is preparing a heartfelt goodbye. We’ll have to wait and see if those rumors hold weight.

Heartland Season 19 Confirms Netflix Us Release

When will Heartland Season 20 be on Netflix in the US?

If you live in the United States, you will need to practice some patience. As we’ve mentioned before, Netflix does not have first-run streaming rights to Heartland in the US. Those rights belong to UPtv (and the UP Faith & Family streaming service), which holds an exclusivity window for roughly a year. That said, as of publication, they haven’t confirmed that for season 20. We’ll keep an eye on their schedule for October.

Because Season 19 just arrived on Netflix US on September 1st, 2026, you shouldn’t expect a quick turnaround for Season 20.

Assuming the network sticks to its standard 12-month release rhythm, we predict Heartland Season 20 won’t be on Netflix US until Fall 2027 (likely September 2027) or early 2028 at the absolute latest.

When will Heartland Season 20 be on Netflix Internationally?

If you’re in an international Netflix region—such as the United Kingdom, Australia, or Latin America—your timeline is much friendlier.

Typically, new seasons of Heartland hit international Netflix regions anywhere from four to six months after they finish airing on CBC. For context, Season 19 touched down on international Netflix in March 2026.

If Season 20 wraps up its weekly broadcast run on CBC by late December 2026, you can expect Season 20 to arrive on Netflix internationally sometime between March 2027 and June 2027.

Note: Unfortunately, early seasons (1-6) of Heartland remain unavailable on international Netflix after being removed in 2022, and there is currently no indication they will return.
