After an eventful year for the Spanish line-up of Netflix, which saw The Lady’s Companion and Billionaires Bunker being brought out to subscribers worldwide, many projects are rapidly progressing for a wide release in 2026. Here is everything we know so far about the original series set to arrive on Netflix from Spain.

The very strategic place of Spain within Netflix’s conquest of Europe is no secret, as the platform has state-of-the-art soundstages and a production hub in the country (dubbed Tres Cantos), which we visited in 2024. And Ted Sarandos himself pledged to invest a whopping €1 billion in Spanish originals over the next four years. But, as we ran a tally of the most-watched Spanish content in 2024, only Berlin, the spin-off of Money Heist, and Gangs of Galicia, were renewed. Two other series were among the most-watched globally in 2024: The Asunta Case and Raising Voices. Breathless came out with its second season in October of 2025. And, obviously, Élite concluded in July of 2024. That’s because the Spanish line-up features a mix of series designed to be continuing and event miniseries with a strong hook. Here is everything that has been announced out of Spain.

Berlin (Season 2)

Genre: Action, thriller
Creators: Alex Pina, Esther Martínez Lobato
Episodes: 8
Cast: Pedro Alonso, Michelle Jenner, Tristán Ulloa, Begoña Vargas, Julio Peña Fernández, Joel Sánchez

Earlier this summer, Netflix revealed that the upcoming season 2 of Berlin would include a special appearance of Álvaro Morte as El Profesor (Sergio Marquina), linking the spin-off even closer to the events of La Casa de Papel. This sophomore season will run another eight episodes.

Cameras were rolling in late January as it was confirmed the new heist was happening in Seville; confirmed locations outside of Seville included Madrid, San Sebastian, and other Spanish locations. Behind the camera, the writing room is composed of the two creators alongside David Barrocal, Lorena G. Maldonado, and Itziar San Juan. Albert Pintó and David Barrocal, who codirected every season 1 episode, will be joined by José Manuel Cravioto, who was behind the lens on another Vancouver Media production, Billionaires Bunker. New characters for this season include Inma Cuesta as Candela, “an unpredictable Sevillian woman”. The duke of Málaga, Álvaro Hermoso de Medina, a presumed target for the gang, will be played by José Luis Garcia-Perez, while the duchess will be played by Marta Nieto, known to Netflix subscribers as the lead of Feria: The Darkest Light (2022), and in a critically-acclaimed turn in Rodrigo Sorogoyen‘s Madre. No wrapping information for the shoot is known, though we expect the crew to be deep in post-production. We compiled even more information, including performance and a recap of the events of the first season here

Alpha Males (Season 4)

Genre: Comedy
Episodes: TBD
Cast: Fernando Gil, Raúl Tejón, Gorka Otxoa, Fele Martínez

Created by Alberto and Laura Caballero, Machos Alfa (Alpha Males) is a strong enough performer both domestically and globally that a fourth season was greenlit in July 2024. The quartet of characters will return in 2026, and even though updates have been few and far between, cameras were already rolling by the time season 3 premiered last January. Cast member Gorko Otxoa announced in late July with a sunny, beachfront Instagram picture that shooting had just wrapped. He also hinted that this season may be released in two parts and contain more episodes in this interview (in Spanish). A spring 2026 return may be in the cards, or even earlier if the season is divided into halves.

Gangs of Galicia (Season 2)

Genre: Crime, drama
Episodes: TBA
Writer: Jorge Guerricaechevarria
Director: Roger Gual, Marc Vigil
Cast: Clara Lago, Tamar Novas

Earlier this year, the Next of Netflix Spanish event confirmed one anticipated renewal for crime drama Gangs Of Galicia (aka Clanes). Soon after, in late January, cameras have been rolling on the sophomore season, mixing an unlikely romance with the perilous drug rings and trafficking in Galicia; Jorge Guerricaechevarria is once again scripting the new episodes. Local media, through Instagram posts of lead actor Tamar Novas and the crew, revealed in late July that shooting had wrapped far away from Spain… In Dublin, Ireland. A local report in May revealed that the second season will begin three years after the first season, and that Luis Zahera has joined the cast, presumably as the head of a local gang.

Salvador

Genre: Drama
Episodes: TBA
Creator, Writer: Aitor Gabilondo
Director: Daniel Calpasoro
Cast: Luis Tosar, Claudia Salas

Salvador Netflix Spanish Thriller Everything We Know So Far

Claudia Salas, more known as Rebe in Élite, will enter a decidedly different world in the upcoming drama Salvador (Savior in English). She will play Milena, a football supporter intertwined in a local neonazi movement. Her father, played by Luis Tosar, will find out after the fallout of a violent fight between radicalized supporters of opposing clubs, and attempt both to rescue her and understand how she ended up there. Writer Aitor Gabilondo is no stranger to Netflix, having created the short-lived The Silence in 2023, and more importantly, the critically acclaimed HBO show Patria. He has stated that the show will mix themes of “immigration, lack of future, extremism, and delinquency.”

Shooting started in September 2024 in Madrid and is understood to have wrapped. An early 2026 release is expected for this project, although it is unclear whether it will be presented as a miniseries or a continuing show. We have previewed more details on the show here.

Author Elísabet Benavent has enjoyed a fruitful relationship with Netflix, as her novel has successfully been adapted into four seasons of Valeria, which concluded in February of 2025. Now, a creative mind on that show, Marina Pérez and production company of Valeria Plano a Plano will adapt another one of her books into a 7-episode miniseries. All The Truth Behind My Lies will star Daniel Ibáñez (Segundo premio, Manual para señoritas) and Itziar Manero (Manual para señoritas) as two best friends who have been living together for years. Once common friend Blanca is getting married, they decide to do a bachelorette party in a rented caravan… but will only make deep secrets and untold truths resurface. The show has officially wrapped in early August, as has been reported on Netflix Spain’s official Instagram. Given the all-female creative crew involved and the success of Valeria, we can expect a big push from Netflix when it will release sometime in 2026.

Los Secretos De La Cortesana

Adapted from the 2022 book by Estefanía Ruiz, the book and the show, which has been shooting this summer in Segovia and in Madrid (including in the Tres Cantos production hub), promises passion, seduction, and manipulation alongside much palace intrigue in XVIIIth century Madrid. If the creatives are not known for this kind of steamy period drama, as Carlos de Pando and Sara Antuña have created broad sci-fi satire ¡García!, for HBO Max, the production company behind Los Secretos de La Cortesana, Zeta Studios, has brought Élite to the world.

The central romance between main characters Julia (Carla Campra), daughter of the court’s painter, and heir to the throne Gonzalo (Carlos Cuevas), will be spiced up by: court conventions, an irate royal family, revenge, decadent parties, and a secret society of women conspiring to assume power… Not necessarily in that order. The project, on paper, has all the makings of Spain’s answer to Bridgerton in a country that has already been well-known for its consistent production of steamy period dramas. But will it convince audiences worldwide?

The Final Problem/El Problema Final

Genre: Mystery, thriller
Episodes: 5
Writers: Alberto Macías, Carlos Molinero, Marisol Farré
Director: Félix Viscarret
Cast: Jose Coronado, María Valverde, Martiño Rivas, Maribel Verdú, Gonzalo de Castro, Cristina Kovani, José Condessa, Pepón Nieto

The Final Problem First Look Netflix

Another book adaptation, another popular genre: this time around, it’s a popular mystery novel by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, who is getting the Netflix miniseries treatment. The Final Problem is trapping a varied cast of characters on a remote island near Mallorca in 1959, while a murder has occurred, of a certain British tourist named Elisa Mandel. Here, one unlikely investigator is a retired comedian known for playing Sherlock Holmes on the big screen.

The 5-episode series will feature familiar faces among its all-star cast, including José Coronado, best known for another Netflix series that premiered in 2025: Legado/Rotten LegacyThe shoot for The Final Problem occurred between April and June of 2025, in Toledo, Lloret del Mar, Madrid, and on soundstages in the Tres Cantos Hub. No timetable is set for the expected 2026 premiere; hopefully, this mystery miniseries will fare better than The Residence, which was cancelled earlier this summer. We have more details in our full preview for The Final Problem here

Based on a novel by Gillian McAllister, the series is not fully a Spanish creation, but comes from the mind of Narcos writer Jason George, who cowrote it with creative partner Lara Sendim. The thriller tells the shattered lives of three sisters on vacation in the Dominican Republic when one of them runs over a man while driving. The story asks familiar questions about the lengths one would go to to protect their family, and boasts two familiar faces: breakout Clara Gallo, who starred last summer in Olympo, and Claudia Salas, who is also set to star in Salvador, also planned for a 2026 release. The shoot started in February in the Dominican Republic, alongside several locations in Spain, including the Gipuzcoa area and Navarra locations. It is rumored to have wrapped in late July, as teased by this post by Clara Gallo on Instagram

By design, a big chunk of Netflix programming is designed for global release; but some projects are either acquired or produced for a few territories only, even though they are becoming rare. We are including Aquel in this preview since its release will still be in multiple territories: Spain and Latin America. This 8-episode series will revisit the career of one of the staples in Latin music, now aged 82 but boasting a six-decade career: Miguel Rafael Martos Sánchez, also known as Raphael. The biopic will chronicle the ascent of the artist, which entered the Eurovision contest twice in the 60s, but also offer an intimate look into his regrets and ghosts that have come to haunt him over his long career. The series will span several decades and Raphael will be played by Javier Morgade (Alma) and Carlos Santos. Shooting on the series started in early July of 2025.

City of Shadows / Ciudad de sombras

Genre: Crime, Thriller
Episodes: 6
Writers: Carlos López, Clara Esparrach
Director: Jorge Torregrossa
Cast: Isak Férriz, Verónica Echegui, Ana Wagener, Manolo Solo and Jordi Rico

City Of Shadows Netflix Spain

In late August, we learned that Spanish actress Verónica Echegui, who was a staple of local film and television for many years, passed away at 42. She was the lead of Netflix series Intimacy (2022), and her final project is set to be this Netflix miniseries, adapted from the Milo Malart crime books, which is understood to be in post-production. Starring Isak Férriz as the detective Milo Malart, the story is featuring “a gruesome crime that has occurred in La Pedrera – Casa Milà. A burned body has appeared on the façade of Gaudí’s iconic building”. Malart is resuming his police work after an indefinite suspension, and is assisted by sub-inspector Rebecca Garrido (Echegui). Shooting took place in late 2024 and early 2025 in Barcelona and its surroundings, and was reported to have wrapped in early March

The Map Of Longing/El Mapa de Los Anhelos

Genre : drama/Episodes : TBA/ Creator : Isa Sánchez / Directors : Laura M. Campos, Gemma Ferraté/ Cast : Alícia Falcó, Pablo Álvarez , Georgina Amorós

Fresh off a starring turn in blockbuster Billionaires Bunker, Alícia Falcó will also be the lead role in this miniseries based on the novel of the same name by Alice Kellen. She will play Greta, a young woman who claims she was born in order to save her sister Lucy, sick with leukemia. However, things do not turn out as expected and Lucy dies, leaving Greta with a deep existential void. She then finds out Lucy had designed a game to challenges her sister to face her grief and discover her own path. The series has been shooting since July, with no information on when it will wrap ; it is expected to premiere in 2026.
