‘6 Underground’ Netflix: Everything we know so far

Michael Bay and Ryan Reynolds are teaming up for the blockbuster movie, 6 Underground, coming to Netflix by the end of 2019. Here’s everything you need to know about the movie including who’s starring, what it’s about and all the details from set.

6 Underground is one of two massive movies has lined up for the Christmas period this year. It will release around the same time as Netflix’s The Irishman by Martin Scorcese although this particular title has a budget much bigger. It’s aiming to replicate the success of Bright from a couple of years ago in terms of budget and audience.

Let’s now break down the who, what and where of 6 Underground on Netflix:

What’s the movie 6 Underground about?

The movie is an action thriller that is about six billionaires forming an elite vigilante squad after they fake their deaths.

Think of it a bit like The Italian Job mixed with Bad Boys and The Fast and Furious.

Netflix only has one tag for the movie so far and that’s “exciting”.

The movie was first announced in May 2018 and began filming soon after. It comes from the same studio that produced Altered Carbon and Grace and Frankie for Netflix.

Who’s directing 6 Underground for Netflix?

The king of explosions takes the reign of 6 Underground and we’re of course referring to Michael Bay. The sometimes controversial director has an impressive back library with the Transformers library being the obvious go-to but also has had a hand in titles like Bad Boys, Armageddon, and The Purge.

The filming for Six Underground actually wrapped up in December 2018. That means Netflix has been specifically lining this movie up for the winter of 2019 for quite some time.

You can see some of the fast-paced car scenes taking place in Florence, Italy. The filming looks to have taken place in Italy throughout the last few months of 2018.

Thanks to the production being on the streets of Itlay there are literally hundreds of snaps available on social media that people managed to snap during the filming in 2018.

When will 6 Underground be on Netflix?

As of the time of publishing, no release date has been announced.

However, The Irishman is expected to launch around thanksgiving and as we mentioned above, it may be the case Netflix releases this title over the Christmas break. Last year, it had Avengers: Infinity War release on Christmas day so may look at this film as the replacement.
