The cards have been dealt, and cameras are officially rolling on the second season of BET, Netflix’s live-action adaptation of the hit Japanese anime and manga series Kakegurui.

Following its renewal last summer, the high-stakes teen thriller has returned to Toronto, Ontario, to film its highly anticipated next installment. According to production listings, filming for the 10-episode second season kicked off on June 3, 2026, and is scheduled to run through the summer, wrapping up on August 13, 2026.

Showrunner Simon Barry is back at the helm for Boat Rocker Media, and he took to Instagram on June 9th to confirm that production is officially moving forward, posting: “Game on. ♣️♦️♠️♥️ #betnetflix”.

Series star Miku Martineau, who plays the mysterious and gambling-obsessed transfer student Yumeko, also shared the excitement on her Instagram:

The cast is clearly thrilled to be back in Canada. Another cast member posted a fun video shouting out BET Season 2, co-star Miku Martineau, and celebrating several Canadian staples—from Tim Hortons’ Honey Crullers to the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Tempo basketball team:

“Shout out Tim Horton’s ice cap. Shout out Tim Horton’s Timbits. Specifically also the Honey Crueler… Shout out Toronto Maple Leafs. Shout out the Tempo… Shout out my Canadian castmates from BET. Shout out my Canadian castmates from Crew Girl. Shout out all Canadian creatives.”

Pre-production has been underway for the past few weeks, with a table read for Season 2 occurring back on May 15th, per Ayo Solanke. Before that, in early April, we noted that Simon Barry had posted that he’d begun packing for his trip up to Toronto to film Season 2.

Where is BET Season 2 filming?

As production gets underway, eagle-eyed locals might spot the crew around Toronto. To bring the elite, underground-gambling-run boarding school to life in Season 1, the show utilized a number of real-world academic and historical locations in the region.

If Season 2 follows suit, expect them to return to the beautiful local architecture. Season 1 filming locations included:

  • Emmanuel College (75 Queen’s Park Cres E, Toronto)
  • Victoria College (73 Queens Park #106, Toronto)
  • Wycliffe College (5 Hoskin Ave, Toronto)
  • Claireville Conservation Area (8180 Hwy 50, Brampton)
  • Tannery Road (Toronto)
