Aggie Wiggs is officially back on the case. Netflix has announced today that the global hit series The Beast in Me has been renewed for a second season, with Claire Danes set to reprise her Emmy-nominated role.
The renewal comes hot on the heels of a massive debut for the thriller series. Originally billed as a limited series, The Beast in Me took Netflix by storm, debuting at #1 in the Global Top 10 and securing a spot in the top 10 across 88 countries. In just its first seven weeks on the platform, the show racked up 43 million views. Five of those weeks were in the weekly top 10.
The series became a major awards-season heavyweight, pulling in 21 nominations across the industry’s top honors. It recently took home two Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Music Composition and a historic win for Matthew Rhys for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.
Alongside the season 2 renewal, Netflix also announced they are doubling down on their relationship with executive producer, writer, and co-showrunner Howard Gordon. Gordon and Netflix have forged a new creative partnership that will see him develop brand-new series exclusively for the streamer under his Teakwood Lane Productions banner.
“We always told ourselves we’d only do a second season of The Beast in Me if we found a story that was worthy of the first – and I’m thrilled to say we found it,” said Howard Gordon in a statement provided to Netflix. “We loved making this show and our audience seemed to love watching it, so we’re enormously grateful to Jinny Howe and Netflix, and to Karey Burke and 20th Television for giving us the chance to get the band back together and do it again.”
Jinny Howe, Netflix’s Head of Scripted Series, echoed the excitement, teasing what’s to come for the hit show:

The series captivated global audiences, delivered extraordinary performances led by Claire Danes, and earned Matthew Rhys a historic Emmy win. Prior to the renewal and post-Emmy nominations, Pearle teased that a season 2 could be on the cards, saying, “Yeah, there’s been talks. I agree. I think it’s possible. Obviously, if given the chance, I’d love to explore that. I think the show did well. It was really exciting to see so many people connect with it. We’ll see what happens.”

Netflix didn’t announce a production start, but we understand it will likely begin as soon as November and run through March 2027, with filming returning to Kearny, New Jersey.
This is just the latest time a Netflix limited series has gotten a season 2 renewal. UNTAMED is perhaps the biggest example in the past few years, with BEEF being another high-profile example, albeit that one is done in an anthology format.
