The latest Netflix comedy is here starring David Spade and it comes from the same production company as the other Adam Sandler movies on Netflix. Here’s what you need to know before and after you watch Father of the Year on Netflix including the soundtrack, best moments, what to watch next and the complete cast list and where you’ve seen them before.

Before you watch Father of the Year

What’s the movie about?

David Spade plays a bum dad who has his son and his best friend return to town before eventually heading off for a new life in New York. He reconnects with old friends but most importantly, he bets with his best friend that his dad can beat up the other dad.

Who’s behind the movie?

The movie is directed by Tyler Spindell who is mostly known by his other projects with the same production company including Jack & Jill, The Bunny House and the best movie of all time, Ball Blart Mall Cop. Happy Madison is the production company behind the movie and as you may know, Happy Madison is the production company behind most Sandler movies. Although Adam Sandler doesn’t star in this title, his wife does. Fun Fact, Jackie Sandler has now appeared in every Netflix Happy Madison project!

Should you watch this movie?

Although this movie is by no means unwatchable it is one of David Spade’s worst appearances in recent memory. A few laughs are provided throughout particularly with Nat Faxon in the latter stages of the movie. Its plot is watertight even if a little cliche.

Ultimately our review boils down to this. If you like Adam Sandler movies, you should dive right in. If the answer is no, then avoid like the plague.
