Here’s your guide to Harry Potter on Netflix.

Before we begin, here’s some context on what exactly Harry Potter is and who distributes it as this will be important later on.

Rumors were flying everywhere in 2018 about Harry Potter joining Netflix but unfortunately, it was on a region-by-region basis but some news outlets managed to confuse the various announcements.

In November 2018, Netflix in France and Belgium were recipients to the eight Harry Potter movies.

In January 2019, Netflix in Australia and New Zealand were recipient to all eight movies too.

Why the Harry Potter movies won’t likely come to Netflix in the United States

Despite Netflix in the multiple regions above now streaming Harry Potter, the United States won’t be so lucky.

As you may have heard, Warner Brothers are preparing for their own big streaming service due for release in either late 2019 or 2020.

What we believe Warner Brothers will do is have all the Harry Potter movies streaming on there at launch to bolster its already impressive lineup. There have even been rumors of a possible spin-off series that could come to the service too.

In the meantime, SYFY is your best as they recently took up the Harry Potter movie licenses and in November 2018 put the movies up on its website.

That means Netflix US won’t be getting Harry Potter anytime soon. The Netflix DVD service is still in operation in the US, however where you’ll find all the movies available on DVD and Blu-ray.

Harry Potter Movies on Netflix in the UK

The United Kingdom has never streamed Harry Potter either but unlike the US, it isn’t likely going to get the Warner Brothers streaming service, at least in the near future.

Instead, Warner Brothers quite often hands the streaming license over to Sky who operates its NowTV platform but at the time of publishing, the movie set isn’t available anywhere on streaming.

ITV regularly runs re-runs of the movies on terrestrial TV in the UK too.

The prequel movies set in the Harry Potter universe, Fantastic Beasts are also scattered around Netflix but we’ve made a separate guide just for that.
