If you’ve been desperately waiting for the next season of My Life with the Walter Boys, Geek Girl or Finding Her Edge or missing the wholesome, small-town charm of Sweet Magnolias and Heartland, Netflix has just secured your ultimate weekend binge. In a surprise licensed pickup, all five seasons of the hit teen comedy-drama Holly Hobbie are scheduled to arrive on Netflix US this Friday, July 17th, 2026.

For the uninitiated, Holly Hobbie has had quite the journey across the television landscape. Produced by Aircraft Pictures and Cloudco Entertainment, the live-action series initially launched as a Hulu Original back in 2018 for its first three seasons. It later shifted over to BYUtv and the Disney Channel in the US for its fourth and fifth seasons, wrapping up its impressive 50-episode run in the fall of 2022. As of today, the series streams, in the US at least, exclusively on BYUtv but that’s about to change.

Now, Netflix has struck a deal to bring the entire library under one roof, making it incredibly easy for fans—old and new—to watch the complete series start to finish.

What is Holly Hobbie about?

Based on the iconic 1960s American Greetings character (but given a thoroughly modern, Gen-Z update), the series stars Ruby Jay (The Unicorn) as the titular Holly. Holly is a fiercely determined 13-year-old farm girl and aspiring singer-songwriter living in the picture-perfect small town of Collinsville. Armed with a guitar and a big heart, she dreams of saving the world—but she’s starting in her own backyard by trying to save her grandmother’s struggling Calico Café.

Over the course of five seasons, the show tackles the everyday challenges of growing up. From navigating bullies, breakouts, and curfews to exploring first crushes, family dynamics, and the very real pressures of launching an internet music career to help her family, it’s a beautifully grounded coming-of-age story.

The series also boasts fantastic, catchy original music performed by Jay herself, and features a solid supporting cast including Saara Chaudry, Kamaia Fairburn, Hunter Dillon, Charles Vandervaart, and Erin Karpluk.

Why You Should Add It To Your Watchlist

Finding a quality, family-friendly teen drama that strikes the perfect balance between wholesome and genuinely relatable can be a challenge. Holly Hobbie has been widely praised for its authentic portrayal of young teenagers, earning a Daytime Emmy nomination and taking home a Canadian Screen Award for Best Children’s or Youth Program.

If you loved Netflix’s Alexa & Katie, The Baby-Sitters Club, or Anne with an E, this is going to be right up your alley. Best of all, because the show has already concluded its run, you can press play this weekend knowing you’re getting a complete, satisfying story without the dreaded Netflix cancellation curse hanging over your head!
