Assane Diop is officially making his highly anticipated return to our screens. Netflix has just announced that Lupin Part 4 will premiere globally on October 23rd, bringing us back into the thrilling world of the gentleman thief.
The French heist sensation, which quickly became a worldwide phenomenon for the streamer upon its debut, is gearing up for its biggest outing yet. We’ve been tracking the production of the new season closely here at What’s on Netflix. From covering news of its renewal in May 2025 (and eagerly waiting for answers to Part 3’s jaw-dropping cliffhanger involving Assane’s mother and Hubert Pellegrini) to covering the recent wrap of filming, we’ve known for a while that the series was eyeing a 2026 release (more recently, a Fall window). Now, we finally have the exact date to mark on our calendars!
Alongside the release date announcement, Netflix also dropped brand-new franchise poster art to celebrate Assane’s return.

Filming Locations and Action-Packed Sequences
If you’ve been following our coverage, you know this season is going to be incredibly action-packed. Filming took over the French capital over the past few months, and according to local French reports and traffic restriction notices, the massive production shut down several iconic Parisian streets. The crew filmed scenes across the 16th arrondissement around Rue Beethoven, as well as throughout Paris Centre along Rue des Petits-Frères, Rue La Vrillière, Rue Catinat, Rue Croix des Petits-Champs, and Rue du Colonel Driant.
We also recently got a first look at an epic action sequence shot right in the heart of the city, featuring Omar Sy riding a horse through the streets while wearing Assane’s iconic long trench coat.
Returning Cast and Behind-the-Scenes Crew
Omar Sy will, of course, reprise his celebrated role as the suave, master-of-disguise Assane Diop. Joining him for this newly expanded 8-episode part (each episode clocking in at around 45 minutes) is a stellar returning cast that includes Ludivine Sagnier, Antoine Gouy, Soufiane Guerrab, Shirine Boutella, Théo Christine, and Laïka Blanc-Francard.
Behind the camera, the series continues to be spearheaded by creator George Kay in collaboration with François Uzan, featuring participation from Marie Roussin, Florent Meyer, and Tigran Rosine. (By the way, if you’re a fan of George Kay’s writing, you’ll definitely want to keep an eye out for his new upcoming 2026 Netflix series, The Case, which stars Jakob Oftebro and Peter Andersson).
Inspired by the beloved Arsène Lupin character created by Maurice Leblanc, the script for Part 4 is penned by Mathilde Arnaud, Jean-Yves Arnaud, Tigran Rosine, and Florent Meyer. Directing duties for the new episodes are split between Edouard Salier, Everardo Gout, and Hugo Gélin.
The series is produced by Gaumont, this time in collaboration with Carrousel Studios and remains Netflix’s biggest French hit. Between 2023 and 2025, the three seasons of the show pulled in 711.9M hours watched, equating to 154.9M views. It also occupies the fifth and ninth spots on Netflix’s all-time most-watched non-English language series list.
