BACKGRID UK 20 AUGUST 2025
Lupin has been in production for a good few months now across Paris, and the hit French show is now filming one of its biggest action sequences in the streets of Paris with Omar Sy snapped riding a horse in his iconic long trench coat.
As a quick recap, Lupin part 3 released on Netflix all the way back in October 2023, and following its premiere, there was over a year or so of complete radio silence. That began to change in early 2025 with Omar Sy himself hinting at more to come, although whether it’d be a wrap-up movie or something else entirely was unclear. Finally, in mid-May 2025, Netflix confirmed that production was underway on what will be an eight-episode final season.
The series is created by George Kay in collaboration with François Uzan, with the participation of Marie Roussin, Florent Meyer, and Tigran Rosine. Season 4 features story arcs written by Mathilde Arnaud, Jean-Yves Arnaud, Florent Meyer, Tigran Rosine, and Pennda Ba. The showrunners are Omar Sy and Louis Leterrier, and it is directed by Edouard Salier, Everardo Gout, and Hugo Gelin.
Returning cast for season 4 includes Sy, Ludivine Sagnier, Antoine Gouy, Soufiane Guerrab, Shirine Boutella, Théo Christine, and Laïka Blanc-Francard. The season comprises 8 episodes of 45 minutes, produced by Gaumont with the participation of Carrousel Studios.
Omar Sy could be seen yesterday and throughout the past few months filming in and around Paris. This week, the Prefecture of Police of Paris has temporarily banned motor-vehicle traffic at several locations throughout the French capital, according to local reports. Locations this week reportedly include Rue Beethoven in the 16th arrondissement; Rue des Petits Frères in Paris Centre, La Vrillière Street, Catinat Street, Street Cross of the Small Fields, and Rue du Colonel Driant between Rue de Valois and Rue du Bouloi, plus Place de la Bourse between Rue du Quatre-Septembre and Rue Réaumur, among other locations.
Last month, Sy was spotted filming in and around the quays of the Seine.
No release date has been announced for Lupin Part 4 as of yet, but it’s fully expected to return to our screens sometime in 2026. Will the series continue in tradition in breaking records and joining parts 1 and 2 in the all-time most-watched list for non-English shows? We’ll soon find out!
Omar Sy, who may be done with his most iconic character, will be seen plenty more on your screens in the months and years to come. In September, Netflix is set to release French Lover, where he’ll appear alongside Sara Giraudeau. He’s also gearing up to headline Netflix’s new Extraction series, which serves as a spin-off to the two films headlined by Chris Hemsworth.
Here are all the exclusive new snaps from the streets of Paris that were taken on August 20th, 2025 – enjoy!
