Netflix To Stream The Royals Series

The Royals are heading to Netflix! Beginning on June 26, 2025, Netflix US will stream the highly rated US drama series for the first time.

Not to be confused with Netflix’s Indian flagship drama of the same name, which has just received a season 2 renewal, The Royals first aired on E! between 2015 and 2018, comprising a total of 40 episodes. Created by Mark Schwahn, the overlooked show garnered a slew of great reviews from those who caught it on the cable network and critics throughout its three-year run.

The series, headlined by Elizabeth Hurley, William Moseley, Alexandra Park, Tom Austen, Merritt Patterson, Jake Maskall, and Oliver Milburn, follows the lives of a fictional British Royal family that inhabits a world of opulence, lust, sizzling scandal, and regal tradition. This world also comes with a price tag of duty, destiny, and intense public scrutiny. Think Entourage meets Pretty Little Liars meets Gossip Girl meets Dynasty.

Netflix is expected, but not yet confirmed, to carry all four seasons of the series, licensed from Lionsgate TV and Universal Cable Prods. It’ll stream the series for a limited time, but we don’t yet know how long the license will be in effect. Typically, most licenses last anywhere from one to five years. The series joining Netflix will mark the first time it has been on a premium SVOD service in some time, although JustWatch reports that it has been streaming partially on Philo and in full on a service called MovieSphere+. Upon its release, in addition to airing on E!, the series was one of the first major pickups for Amazon Prime Video.

Netflix previously streamed the show in some international territories, such as the UK, when it held the rights to all four seasons for a brief period between 2022 and 2023

Although Netflix started the year off slowly in terms of new licensed titles from other distributors, it significantly ramped up its acquisitions in the US over the Summer. As we’ve been reporting, Sullivan’s Crossing, Mom, PAW Patrol, more Yellowjackets, and the brilliant Mr. Robot are all dropping within the next few weeks. That could be because it’s about to remove a slew of Disney and HBO shows so it’s making sure it has the hours filled up with other titles.

For more on what’s still to come to Netflix US throughout the remainder of June 2025, keep it locked here on What’s on Netflix, and as referenced above, we’re keeping track of all the July 2025 arrivals here.
