After weeks of speculation, it is now official. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Re-Ignition (labeled as season 19) will arrive on Netflix on July 24, 2025. This updated version of the classic 1990s series utilizes modern upscaling technology to enhance the original episodes, providing fans with a new way to experience the beloved show.
Netflix now has a long, storied history with the classic kids franchise Power Rangers. Throughout much of the 2020s, Netflix was one of the best places to watch the show with a vast library at your disposal, and moving into the 2020s, exclusive new seasons to watch. That changed in 2021, with the majority of the Power Rangers TV library removed, although on the bright side, it was announced that Netflix’s involvement was set to deepen with the development of a new Power Rangers universe between the streamer and Hasbro. That collaboration never came to fruition, however, as the project was canceled in mid-2024. It is now being developed for Disney+ and is speculated to begin filming in January 2026.
Now, Netflix is left with a handful of seasons, including the exclusively added titles it has, although we’ve already begun seeing some of those titles removed; many of the others will remain for an extended period.
As it pertains to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Netflix has seasons 1-3 and season 1 “Reversioned,” but we’re about to get an update.
Hasbro and Netflix are presenting AI-enhanced remasters of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episodes.
The project improves the visuals and audio, making the show look cleaner and more detailed. Many of these upscaled episodes have already been released on YouTube and will be available on Netflix all at once on July 24, 2025. Hasbro also released shorts versions of the series on YouTube, although that won’t be making the jump. The Re-Ignition series is part of a larger rollout that includes a new toy line from Playmates.
The enhancements have received mixed reactions. Some scenes look noticeably sharper, while other details, such as costumes, sometimes appear slightly washed out. Some commenters are skeptical about the quality of the AI upgrades, worrying they may give the footage an unnatural look. Others are cautiously optimistic, hoping the improvements will at least look better than the grainy VHS and DVD transfers that many grew up with.
The addition to Netflix applies to most major regions of the streamer, including Netflix in the United States and the United Kingdom.
