One Day at a Time Season 2: Release Date and Renewal Status

Netflix’s second big sitcom revival came in the form of One Day At A Time when it arrived in the first week of 2017. It seems to have struck a chord with fans both new and old and many will be wanting to know if and when there’ll be a second season. Let’s dive in.

The series is a modern-day adaptation of the 1980’s sitcom series that ran through the 80’s. It’s indistinguishable from its former self, having a Latino lead and having to deal with problems you’d never have had back in the 80’s.

As we mentioned above, this isn’t the first sitcom Netflix has revived. In 2016, it picked up the rights to Fuller House which would be a continuation of Full House. So far, that show has managed to get two seasons with a third confirmed for 2017. So, if Fuller House is anything to go by, One Day At A Time is in good hands.

Will the series be renewed for a second season?

Official Renewal Status (03/05/2017): Netflix has ordered 13 episodes for the second season.

We’ve been waiting for two months for the official renewal announcement and it’s here courtesy of Deadline.

When will One Day at a Time Season 2 be on Netflix?

Sitcoms usually work in a yearly fashion so we think Netflix would likely publish a new season at the beginning of 2018. Although, as with Fuller House, we could see the release schedule pushed forward a bit. We’ll know more as soon as the series has been renewed so check back then.

Will the Original One Day at a Time be on Netflix?

As for the original CBS series, we highly doubt that it’ll be coming to Netflix although we’d like to be wrong. A lot of the classic CBS shows such as The A-Team and MASH have all been taken off Netflix in recent years.
