Netflix is on a renewal roll to kick start the new year. Last week, Netflix announced that a new season of House of Cards will drop on Netflix in 2017 but today Netflix has renewed one of its most loved shows, Orange is the New Black and has given it a green light for not one but three whole new seasons.
This news means that we’ll be enjoying Orange is the New Black way up until 2019. That’s absolutely fine with me.
Jenji Kohan expressed her delight in an official statement : “Three more years! Not quite a political term, but still plenty of time to do some interesting things. In some cultures, ‘May you lead an interesting life,’ is a curse, but I don’t live in those cultures. Here’s to keeping it interesting. Thanks Netflix! Both thanks and you’re welcome Lionsgate!”
While we’re waiting for those three new seasons, we’re just months away from season 4 that’s due to hit Netflix all in one big hit. This year is also the first year Orange is the New Black will release to a global audience with Netflix opening up the doorways to every country with a couple of exceptions.
The only comment that we have that would reflect negativity on the series is that it’s very rapidly evolving away from what the show originally set out to do. This may be a good thing but it does rely on great writing going forward rather than relying on the source material. They’ve done a good job so far but time will tell how it will evolve.
Are you excited for another 3 seasons?
